Ive never really liked Jeremy Clarkson ...

Clarkson replies .......

Of course it was a stupid thing to say...... We all know the government doesn't have the money to spend on bullets at the moment. :D

:clap::D:lol:

JC is great, those that take offence at what he says should really take it with a pinch of salt, i mean its just for effect.

Just a question, do those of you on this agree that what happened to Jonathon Ross and Russell brand was just a joke as well?

Entirely different.

Clarkson's comments were prefixed with "Since this is one the BBC, we have to give a balanced view...." having already presented his opinion, what he said after that was a self parody.

Brand's and Ross' comments targeted a specific person (Sachs) to belittle, humiliate and scorn them.

I think that woman from unison should be taken outside and executed in front of her family... :)

Or at the very least sacked. She is not fit to run anything other than an ice cream van :shake:

Sad thing about all this is if he had said the same thing, in the same manner about Asians or blacks then he probably would be sacked, arrested and buggered daily in a grotty little prison cell ;)

class!!!

Unfortunately it's people like her who seem to be running the negotiations. No sense of reality at all. I wonder if she realises what a complete plank she's made of herself

The BBC invite Clarkson on to the "One Show" ask him a loaded question and are now surprised at his answer, if he hadn't produced a shock someone would need to check his pulse. I'm pretty sure he insulted the whole of Mexico recently too, where's the public uproar about that?

The transcript is on The Guardian website.
Anyone who reads it and is still in outrage needs a reality check. Hopefully a boot-shaped one aimed squarely at their bottom.

I couldn't really care less about this statement he's made, but honestly I can't stand the guy. He represents exactly the kind of man I find extraordinarily unattractive - guys who are into cars, who think speeding and driving recklessly is funny, and that being a macho, sexist pig is hilarious. And he has a huge ego to boot. I truly can't stand alpha males, and I think it's pretty sad that he's considered cool and worthy of admiration.

Give me a geeky brain box like Professor Brian Cox over him anyday. Now that's a man who has something intelligent and useful to contribute.

I quite like Mr Clarkson, he is far more intelligent than he is given credit for.

I like cars but don't drive like I stole it (especially when on the bus, which is most days). I'm far from being sexist, egotistic and don't put on the macho bravado.

I am educated to degree level in engineering.

What does that make me then?
I guess the love of cars makes me similar to him :D

Question time discussed it ..... Seems to me that we have bred a country with too many humourless, saddo's that need a serious kick into reality, where people are allowed to have a bit of a laugh? and perhaps people should stop feeling offended on behalf of others.

It is Clarkson it goes with the territory. Having read his books he always comes up with ludicrous ideas, that sometimes go beyond what some may find tolerable.

You know what to expect and take it as such. I don't watch a summer blockbuster expecting the height of film. I take it for what it is.

Is that stuff his ex wife came up with? The one who was gagged?

When I heard this on the news I thought 'another Joe Scrivens thread!'
Someone beat him to it!

Sorry Joe! ;-)

Clarkson is a git, but tis a bad joke...that's all!

Brian Cox has got 6 points on his licence for speeding......

Did you hear the one about the Liberal, The Looney Leftie and The Chairperson of the PC Brigade...............no?....I thought not.

You evidently haven't the faintest idea who Professor Brian Cox is.

Puerile. Are you trying to use a feeble ad hominem remark to undermine my opinion? How desperate and pathetic.

Well the subject certainly prompted a lot of forum activity throughout the UK and got a reaction on TP (at least one person left the forums over it) what's that all about?

The person who left is the sort of person who head the phrase 'like ****** off a shovel' went outside, took a ****** on a shovel and then tried to get it off again.

Well I find those muppets at Unison the sort of people I cannot stand. Out of touch with reality, pompous, lack of sense of humour, inconsiderate to others, and who constantly always want something for nothing.

Many guys (and girls) are into cars, why is that so unattractive? I am not interested in boats or stamp collecting but I dont find those unattractive. If you actually watched TG, you would see that they only drive recklessly and at speed on tracks or closed roads. They like fast cars but so do a lot of the population.

For the record I really like Cox too, and love the way he has got people interested in science. If everyone was the same it would be a very boring world, but unfortunately the PC brigade hate anyone that isnt one of them.

But he's not condidered cool, quite the opposite and he knows it, he say's many things to prove it and on TV acts in the same way. He regularly takes the mickey out of himself and just tends to have a dig at others as well. No different to comedians we see on tv or on stage but no-one complains about them.

Health and Safety = the control of your movements.

Political Correctness = the control of your thoughts.

It's all ridiculous really. These people want to lynch Clarkson because he has offended them. What? What if I'm offended by their ludicrous behaviour? Can I take them to court?

There's serious confusion over what constitutes as 'rights', and that's where the problem is in this country.

You do know that JC is currently suing his ex over these allegations. Fancy being the next?

I'm interested how you draw that conclusion

He appears to have googled the name and found some tabloid article about the actor who has the same name.

Even though I specifically said professor. The only speed limit Professor Brian Cox is involved in breaking is the speed of light at CERN.

He has apologised (sadly), but I think that Union woman should also be made to apologise for comparing him to Gadaffi.

To be fair, unless you have access to DVLA data, you do not know for certain. He could be a wife beating coke addict for all we know!

I actually don't really disagree with Clarkson's views on their attitudes myself.

Many guys (and girls) are into cars, why is that so unattractive? I am not interested in boats or stamp collecting but I dont find those unattractive.

It's largely due to the materialistic attitude that tends to come with a love of cars. I find excessive materialism extraordinarily unattractive, and I see fancy cars as very materialistic items. Most of my friends who are really into cars love the status that comes with them, and I just hate that.

If you actually watched TG, you would see that they only drive recklessly and at speed on tracks or closed roads. They like fast cars but so do a lot of the population.

Of course I've seen Top Gear before and I'm aware of the safety precautions they take. But it doesn't change the fact that there's a strong focus on driving like a prat, regardless. Essentially, it sends out a message that acting like a speed-obsessed alpha male is cool.

Personally, I just can't stand it.

Do the DVLA record that too?

Ah, ok, so you assume that he doesn't know based on the fact that you Googled for a Brian Cox with points.

Thanks for clearing that up

lets ask him outright and clear it up.

tiler - the brian cos you were referring to with the 6 points on his license - is that brian cox the professor or brian cox the actor?

Yes, because some assumptions are safe to make.

But, you know, your pointless snarky attitude is really adding a lot to the thread, so keep it up.
