Ive never really liked Jeremy Clarkson ...

Oh come on... JC is JC comment purely made in jest. Get off the soap box.

JC makes me laugh, he is a bit of a bighead sometimes and most of the top gear stuff is obviously staged but it is what it is, humour, some may not like his style or his comments but come on! it's funny for those with a wider sense of humour.

Have to admit that while I'm not a car lover as such, I actually don't mind him due to his dry and droll wits. When compared to most of today's "comedians" (even though he isn't meant to be one) on the telly, his brand of humour actually does work on me.

At least he is good at what he does, even if he does get close to the mark at times but he can get away with it simply because he's Clarkson. :naughty:

Do you really think he's serious ,Jezza thrives on attention ,and you're reaction is exactly what he looks for .

I'm a big fan for Jeremy because he don't give a dam ,good on him I say .

from what i remember (although i wasnt paying that much attention) he had said he loves the strikes because all the roads are clear, then he jokingly said 'ahh this is the BBC, I'm supposed to provide a balanced opinion, so i'd drag them all out and have them shot'.

was meant to be a joke, but a pretty dumb one if he thought it wouldnt be taken out of context.

OK shooting's them in front of their families is a bit harsh but these public sector workers are now being hit with the same things the rest of us have been hit with for the last 4 years or so!

Pretty much everyone on/around the "average" wage is struggling to pay their mortgage and general cost of living and if they're lucky enough to have enough money to put into a pension then that's a bonus.

Plus..... 30-40 years ago, most people started work at 16 (or perhaps even younger) but now a lot of people don't start work until after Uni/further education so they're in their 20s before they do a full day's work. Add to that health care is also increase life expectancy (well apart from those that are trying to eat themselves into an early grave but don't get me started on that) there's no real reason why people shouldn't be physically able to work in their 60s.

My Dad's 57 and fiancially he probably could afford to retire in a few years time but in his words "I think I'd go frickin' mad"

I have sympathy for nurses who often have to work long and anti-sociable shifts but teachers who get around 13 weeks off a year, STFU and get on with it!!!!

His comments were just his way of saying he disagrees with the strikers viewpoint and actions. He has a clumsy way of getting across his point - usually used for effect. When this provokes a reaction, we get to hear from the pinko nannies.

Its amazing just how many people do take everything be says out of context.
As said previously, more often than not what he says is tongue in cheek stuff.
Ultimately though he says what other people are to scared to say.
I like his style and ability to make light of a situation. Far to many people in this world take life way to serious.
L
On a personal note, I'd love to sit in a pub with him and chat and sink a few pints, certainly wouldn't be a boring chat!

Clarkson is clearly working as intended then. Good work that man.

Is anyone who disagrees with you a communist? I seem to recall a period in American history where you'd have been popular. Or Italian or German history actually.

Has everybody recently had a sense of humour bypass?

What a kerfuffle over the utterings of one man..............:)

Agreed.

You're reading far too much from a simple statement. Just like those who are up in arms over JC's comments.

The difference is that Clarkson was joking and it was an add on aside.

Sadly, however, you appear to be serious!

You do realise that teachers were not the majority of those on strike yesterday, don't you?

Quick shoot the man on TV who has an opinion!!!

JCs comments always start debates, they are always entertaining, but that is what they are entertaining.

His views echo how some people feel, but he exagerates them to get a response :)

As already said all JC's comments are tongue in cheek, and delivered in a dry manner. It's called humour. I went to Top Gear Live on Saturday and the live show was brilliant, not just the cars and action, but also the banter coming from JC, RH and JM. Yes it was probably mostly scripted and rehearsed and people who saw other shows would probably have heard almost identical dialogue, but it was funny, not taken seriously, and everyone enjoyed it.

Jezza says things like this just to wind up the PC brigade and they need to get a life rather than pompously demanding he should be sacked, and lets face it take a vote and the majority of the population if not behind him would at least have a laugh at his comments

JC is a breath of fresh air. With so many backside lickers, we need someone who is prepared to say what a lot of us think!

Andy

Agree. People need to get a life. He is very entertaining, and if you dont like him then dont watch him!

Well if you can't pick up on the subtle humour of some of my comments it was obviously wasted on you ;)

Where did I mention anything about teachers being in the majority? <checked again and can't see it>

The fact of the matter is, THE WHOLE WORLD is struggling...... pretty much everyone is feeling the pinch in one way or another, some people would love to have the money to put into a pension in the first place.

My point is, protesting and disrupting the lives of millions of people isn't really the answer to their problems. How many people with "normal" jobs lost a day's pay yesterday (and perhaps will be penalised by their employer) because they had to stay at home and look after their kids?

How many lives were endangered because there weren't enough nurses to care for the sick? Perhaps people died as a result but that's something we'll probably never know.

My point is that there are millions of people who would give their right arm just to have a job at the moment and having a slight alteration to the Ts&Cs of a pension would seem a little trivial in the grand scheme of things. It just needs to be put into perspective ;)

Let's not forget that tens of thousands of non-public sector workers pretty much lost their pensions when the markets crashed and now stand to get pretty much FA after investing lots of their hard-earned cash into what should have been reasonably safe policies.

Do you actually think that public sector workers should be dragged outside and shot? How would you feel if Clarkson said all the women strikers should be taken outside and raped, or all the children should have their hands cut off? Not really so funny is it.

wow some people forgot their sense of humour when they left the house this morning..

It's Clarkson for goodness sake, not your MP or wayward union rep, he is a TV personality known for his dry humour and tongue in cheek excessiveness. People that complain to the bbc really do need a reality check and humour calibration :D

I've just listenend to the quote - and its quite clear he's being incredibly sarcastic through the whole quote! Listen to the tone of his voice.

However, obviously some people just want an argument :D:D:D

i love the way everyone is quoting it completely out of context also, ignoring what he said before the comment etc.

Of course they are - doesnt make news if its clearly a joke does it :lol::lol::lol: Just another way to wind up the pensions argument

When has anything clarkson said been taken seriously??? ok he's wound people up, got a few reations and he loves it.

some people need to lighten up in this thread, seriously its clarkson.

Don't be ridiculous. JC was taking the Michael but unlike you, I have a sense of humour!

Andy

It's Clarkson. It's not literal. He says things on purpose to wind people up. The ones he's aiming at always get upset. Meanwhile the rest of us laugh at how gullible those people are and how they always get upset.

Get a life!

If you find one, try to get a sense of humour at the same time......

I've only heard about this from this thread but it sounds ridiculous. I hate clarkson, I think top gear milks the same formula weak in weak out and it's lost all humour for me because I've seen all their gags in the other 50 series they've had but I used to crack up in the early days. I disagree with just about everything he says on a political level because he comes across as blinkered and bigoted so I just don't watch or read him, most of what he says is just done to get a rise out of people anyway. I bet he'a having a good chuckle over his morning cornflakes today.

Pretty simple really, if you don't like someone just avoid them. Besides, it was on the One Show :gag:

...i think some people never got their chocolate calendar this morning

JC acts like a knob yes, but he's paid to act like one. People who misquote, believe what they read in the press, who believe what they read on t'internet without doing their own research, who lump everyone they don't like the look of into one big 'evil' category are the real knobs.
