Well, having been on the forum for a week or so today I decided to upgrade my camera!

I've had my trusty Nikon D50 with 18-55mm and a 70-300mm Nikon lens, and a Jessops flash for about 4, maybe 5 years. Its done me proud, but as of late I had become a little itchy for a new toy....

so..... with the help of lots of members here, their thoughts and experiences i took what i think is an informed decision....?

I just ordered a Nikon D90 with the 18-105 VR Kit lens, Nikon 35mm f1.8 and a SB900.... and relevant filters.

O excited.. hopefully be here on Tuesday! Fingers crossed.

Going to head out in the morning and find myself a new shiny tripod (current one is a Jessops own jobbie - again about 5 years old- plan to use a new one for camera and the old one for some off camera flash work)

You wont be disapointed with the D90, especially paired with the 35mm 1.8. Lovely camera, lovely lens.

Why not hold out for another carrier delivery and have a look at a Redsnapper tripod, probably better value than anything you will find on the highstreet. I think forum members still get a discount?
 
i will have a dig around and see what i can find... discounts are good! Looking forward to seeing the quality and technology improvements in the d90 compared to the d50 :)
 
I'm about to do almost exactly the same. I've had, and been delighted with, my D50 for almost five years. Time for change. I've decided, I think, to snare a D90, after two months of investigating and testing/handling, there's only so much 'still deciding' you can do before it's time to buy :). I'll miss my 50, though.

Me too, every time i have walked past either jessops or lce i have popped in to "hold it". Ive been doing alot of "deciding" lol.....

Been looking at the market and i dont see the point of selling my d50 on, so will keep as a keepsake! :)
 
I'm going to keep mine, too, I think. As a back-up and just to meet up with every now and again. What else did you consider, other than the 90? I've a box full of various brochures and spec. print outs :)
 
it has arrived.... and all i can say is wow @montane... do it, do it now!
