And this is my 1st post - hopefully not my last.

I've only retaken up photography (seriously) this year (2005) and so far I've taken about 60,000 photographs almost all Cycling. 40,000 of them where with an EOS300D, after 11 months the AF packed in and Jessops exchanged it for the EOS350D (much better). At the same time I purchased an EOS20D which I've found to be rather good. The EOS1DmkII is my goal for 2006 (pie in the sky)

am well in the ' Le Tour ' every year, and also watch pursuit ,

been a fan for 25+ years now , pure admiration

my dream is to get over to France one year and take some pix, now i have done the Australia thing, lol

That was nice of jessops to swap out the 300d after that length of time :)

I'm a fan of the old push irons, I prefer the muddy ones though :whistle2:

I'm an UCI International Commissaire and have been involved as an Official for 25 (LONG) years.

Next March I'm off to Aussieland for the Commonwealth Games (my 3rd) as a Commissaire.

I've noticed this Officiating thing has got in the way of my Photography ie 25 years. I started Racing when I was 9 and was hit by a drunk driver when I was 19 which ended my Racing Career. Back then I had a Pentax MX which I eventually sold when I didn't have any time to use it. Now I'm taking up my hobby again, which I now regret stopping (all those years ago.)

I enjoy every single photo I take, good or bad, as each one teaches me to do better next time:thumb:

Nice avatar. I was a cyclist back in Ray Booty's (The Boot) time.- first guy to break 4hrs for the 100 mile time trial. I was only a kid but I used to assist marshalling etc. The guy was just awesome!

this alwayz astounds me,

these peeps have been here ages, and no one has ever mentioned cycling before, lol , now look at em come out the woodwork,

unfortunatly i havnt been on my handbuilt peugot frame in about 15 years, its in the shed atm:embarasse

I'm ashamed to say that it's been a few months since I went out on my bike too......, well 6 of them tbh. :embarasse

When I changed my car to one with a soft top, it sort of stopped me transporting the bike to where I wanted to ride.

I raced XC mountain bikes for a few years, at the moment my custom built intense tracer lives in my office room:D

It takes a fresh newby to bring them out. I have 4 bikes in my garage and that's where they're staying :)

Awesome - cycling is getting as big as photography here.
My shameful admission is that I have a Joe Waugh 753 Gold Medal (Dura-Ace), a Litespeed Ocoee (XTR), a Gary Fisher Prometheus (old XTR) and a Scott ally winter road bike (mix of 105 and other shimano bits) sitting neglected in the garage.
My New Year's resolution will be to replace the cranks on the Litespeed and get it muddy next year.

if anyone has a nice bike they don'y want anymore :D ............... my treader is getting a bit busted, the poor thing only travels 6 miles a day on roads but gets left on its own in the rain/snow all day while I work :sadcry: .
 
I won't mention the Halford special I have then :D

Spotted your sig - EOS300 & 70-300mm combination, you're probably already aware to be careful to support the lens / body.
 
I am yes - almost had an accident with it once, but i won't say! Very careful these days

Nice taste in bikes! Would love a Litespeed....
 
I just love titanium - the Gary Fisher was made by Sandvik to a wierd and arcane design which rendered it obsolete the second it was built. But I loved the ride so much I had to buy another Ti frame as soon as I could afford it.
I've still got the Fishmong as a hack bike, but the geometry's way off for all but the shortest suspension forks - the original Judy SL's that I have on there just got a service and they had to send to the US for the spare oil reservoir and that was the last one! It'll be pensioned off at the end of the year - or I may just put some rigids back on and suffer...
 
I remember ripping out all the inners from my first pair of judy's and fitting a set of air springs.

they were sooooooo smooth after that, the following year I switched on to pace forks, fantastic :D

I'd even suggest their rigid forks to if you go tack to zero bounce.
 
Jo Burt had some Pace forks when we used to ride together down in Brighton - never really liked the look of them. That plus the fact that they were always spread all over his kitchen floor...
I've got some custom-built Fuquay forks in the garage - the frame's a 1 1/4" head tube as opposed to 1 1/8". Cheers, Gary.
I know there's people out there that do alloy head-tube inserts and I may go that way instead, but it's got a Chris King a-headset and Ringle stem that I'm rather fond of...
 
There seems to be a lot of Cyclists and former Cyclists who are now Photographers - So name the Rider on the left (foreground) and who does he ride with? He was 3rd in which famous cobbled event 2 years ago? He also became a World Champion in Leeds as a Junior but in which discipline?

I guess the event's going to be Paris-Roubaix (fertiliser in the mouth and all), but as for the the Disco rider... no idea.
