So yet again I took off the lens cap to put it in that 'safe place' and it has disappeared again. Obviously not my fault in anyway or a symptom of my impulsiveness rather some b****r having a snigger at me turning the house over.

Anyway, where is the best place to by 72mm Nikon Pinch front Lens Caps. Im needing two and could do with a rear cap aswell.

Prices vary greatly and non-branded alternatives are available but im unsure which is genuine and if non-branded may damage the lens? I would normally try 7dayshop but they seem to be out of 72mm just now.

So where do you get yours?

Check your pocket.. I always find lens caps in my pocket.

You might be better off trying to get the ones with the lanyard (non original) until you learn to stop losing them  or attach some strong cotton to the genuine one :p

Usually drop it into my back right pocket, but alas its not there. I would be happy enough if someone went for a fly grope but im afraid I was not even out the house.

Amazon are a good bet LINK

Usually my first port of call for easiness but so many on there I was looking for opinions on them.

I got mine from here:

Nice and cheap and do the job! Centre pinch ones are great if you've got a lens hood!

Thats a price I could agree with. Have you found any problems with them?

I think you may be right...

I only need two as the provided one with the Samyang 85mm is not centre pinch so with the hood on its damn near impossible to get the thing off.

I imagine if I asked in Jessops tomorrow I would leave something silly like £20 lighter?

I've had a couple from ebay, and they seem to do the job just fine. No scratches or drama, i'm a second voter for the center pinch ones too.

im always putting mine down and walking off, im going to get a couple of spares off ebay

Lanyard is a good idea!

Ooooeer lanyards on lens caps make me shudder LOL. We are talking about attaching it to the camera lens or body right? Bloody think dangling around. I'm always misplacing them but they show up, just stick it in your pocket or chuck it in the camera bag when I take it off. I always use a lens hood so never put the cap back on while I'm working, then I just dig them out of the bag when I pack up.

Lens caps are overrated anyway ;)

Reading this instantly just brought back images of my parker coat when I was 5 with mittens attached with elastic:)

Well the missing lens cap turned up this morning...

In the FRUIT BOWL! :lol::lol::lol:

I have no idea how. I can only assume the excitement of trying out a new flash had something to do with it.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I will invest in several cheapo's from fleabay and perhaps one or two original replacements.

Reading that just reminded me of my blue snorkel coat with the fake fur around the hood & the orange interior lining with the selection of pockets & the oneon the arm with pen holders
