Well the time has come to decide whether or not I want to sit on the fence between the Nikon/Canon debate any longer.
Do I shout and woot for Pentax all the way - Or do I make the decision to go one way...or the other.

I cannot say a bad word about my pentax. Its such a good camera and I feel I've learnt so much with it since I've had it. And has much as I have slagged off the "its only a kit lens" It has definately proved its worth.

I do not regret the choice that I have made - but with thinking with my head [and bank balance for future referance] and the fact that I am getting very serious about this - I decided now was time....

No....I didnt want a D300 - its a little out of my range.


So anyway....poor weather - so what do you photograph?

I suspect that the Pentax K10D will be up for sale shortly. I would recommend it to anyone new to Photography tbh....my decision is more of a "professional" one - for the eventuality. :lol:

And for the record - I played no part in this decision

Even though she can now use about £3,000 of my gear she couldn't beforehand

And she'll have an f-9 exposure available (what I shoot at in the studio, not a Pentax option)

Oh - and she borrowed a lens from me this morning !!!

I not only borrowed a lens off DD this morning - I also borrowed a CF card too! :p

At least when you had the Pentax I could feel sorry for you. What am I supposed to think now?

Despite the fact that you must have been got at in a weak moment, is a good move in the right direction...almost the right direction....no, the right direction....oh God, it's not easy for me this....you understand don't you.

Oh very nice! I'm hoping to help myself to a D200 later this year unless something else bobs along by then, in the meantime i'll get saving my pennies! :)

Our side got "Betty" today so we shouldn't be greedy...there's enough to go around. Look after her DD but I'll be here if she needs me :'(

Canon and Nikon got a woman each. :)

What more can you ask for.....I'm sure DD'll look after his fellow nilkonian....:lol: If not Bob - You'll have to beat him with a big white lens! :)

Looks like the size of DDs tackle won you over Dell:naughty: But I'm sure you made the right decision for yourself, and also the way forward, enjoy, and guess it won't be long before we see some of the results.

Interesting decision, I think you've made a very good move there.

Not wanting to predudice your sale of the Pentax but could you honestly say that given your recent decision you would reccomend someone else went for a Pentax as their first camera over a 400D or D40(x)/D80?

The reason I ask is that you say you made this move after "thinking with my head [and bank balance for future referance]" and that kind of implies that although the Pentax is a great camera it is better suited for someone wanting something better than a P&S rather than someone wanting to start in Photography.
 
Damn, I lost a bid on a D200 last night by £20!

What lenses do you have for the D200? I think i'll buy some lenses first and then the camera :)

I have learnt so much with my pentax - and whilst I didnt think I'd get back into photography the way that I have done then I wouldnt have chosen differently. For me it was the feel of the camera - and the Nikon D40(x)/D80 did nothing for me. They felt too small - too plastic-y - too cheap!!!! I wanted a camera in my hands to feel like a camera.

The reason I am thinking with my head - is mainly having worked with DiddyDave and anything future-wise working with him - means that if I need a better suited studio lens - I have to go and purchase one. Now....I can just borrow his. :lol

I'd still recommened the Pentax K10D as a DSLR - not as someone upgrading from a P&S but someone who IS interesterd in photography. You have to look at what life is presenting you with. My choice to go from Pentax to Nikon - is purely business sense. If that wasnt the case - I wouldnt have changed at all.

Im awaiting deliery from Warehouse Express of my 18-70. However the emailed me today stating that it was out of stock. Currently I have DD's 18-70 on my camera....and a £3k upgrade ;) which he keeps joking about! :lol::p

Surely a D200 would have been cheaper in the long run? You could have sold it on if you wanted to upgrade! :lol:
