midges is a nightmare but I think it's easier to fend them off than leechesto be fair, at the height of summer it was like a jungle in there at my KF....and we had midges.![]()

Midges, leeches? Where do you people live?! Worse thing I ever come across is a house spider and even they're not bad. Did nearly step on a grass snake the other week, don't know which of us were the more surprised.
Why IS Scotland overrun with midges? I've obviously heard about them in the Highlands in late summer but how do they survive your winters, it's not exactly warm up there in January after all. I live in Cornwall and if any part of the UK was going to get plagues of midges I would have thought it would be around here as our winters are very mild.
