it is possible to have itunes on a server and then stream from the server to apple tv

is it possible to stream direct to a mac instead of having everything stored on a mac

and also can everything be moved across without having to redownload ????

ie copy and past the file ???
 
Get a copy of copytrans you can move everything and bin iTunes.

Don't see why not.. Just follow one of the many guides for moving your library :)
 
Have you considered iTunes Match? For £21 a year you effectively get your entire music library hosted in the Cloud. You can use up to 5 devices (pc's, macs or any iOS device) to access the library, from anywhere with wifi.

(EDIT). It's music only. Didn't spot the requirement to stream video.

yes and yes i am on it but does not help my movies so not really any help wish it did movies

i have uploaded tonight a total of 20 diffrent movies so i have roughly 27 movies
 
Yeah. It's dead easy. Same way you'd change your library location.

There are many many guides on how to change library location. The only difference this time is you're putting it on a hard drive that can be accessed in more ways than one.

Yep, I've got mine on a Synology NAS. There's a widget/app for streaming to Apple TV, also supports AirPlay
