I had a notification that it was renewal time. I did it without question as I think it's a great service. What about you guys who use it? Will you renew your subscription?

Yes, great service.

I rip all my music to my laptop and it syncs it to my media server, my work PC and then available on my Apple TV and iPad

It's flipping brilliant! Really impressed with apple cloud services now got iPhone and iPad and appletv. Stuff just works and is shared seemlessly if I want it :)

I have looked at iTunes Match a couple of times and each time clicked off without buying. I don't really understand what it does for that is worth the fee. So I play music from Apple TV? I tend to AirPlay from my iPhone or iPad. I could get a better version - but I could rerip lower quality from cd if I have, but I'm not sure that I'd notice a difference.

Why is it worth the money to you?

Over 14,000 songs available on my iPhone or tablet wherever I go. Any stuff I had stored from years ago at 128kbps, swapped to 256kbps versions by Apple. That's enough for me. Maybe it's not for you. But horses for courses etc.

The syncing of music between multiple PCs. If you only have 1 computer for music, no real benefit

To be honest, i reread my post and it did sound hoity - didn't mean it! I thought I was just missing the point.

I think that it is exactly why I don't need it. It does irritate me slightly that I have to have the iMac on to stream from the PC, but Airplay does fit the gap nicely.

Why do you need your iMac on to stream from your PC?

I don't use iTunes at all, I use spotify.

Inadvertently I ended up renewing iTunes Match yesterday, a quick email to Apple explaining I have zero reason for it, and they've refunded me the fee.

Very pleased with the customer service.

I subscribed to Match after reading this thread. Its great for about 80% of my library, but steadfastly refuses to upload the rest. Have tried the sync routine 3 times, now, on 2 PC's with different versions of iTunes. Each time, it gets into the final stage (uploading unmatched) and hangs.

Anybody else had problems like this?

No. Generally it worked ok but I've not tried from a PC.

Do the unmatched songs have something in common that the ok ones don't? Also try first thing in the morning rather than later on on the day as I think the iTunes servers are worse when busy.

I think if mine was taking too long I just left it for a few hours and it was ok after.

What do the cloud status icons show by the unmatched songs?

There's all sorts of junk in the 1600 or so unmatched songs, but oddly some seem to be tracks from albums that have been matched. I can't see any pattern to indicate why it's failing. On one attempt it'll get a couple of hundred songs into them before stopping, then next time it'll hang after 6 songs.

Weird.

I'd probably just ignore it and hope that after restarting iTunes a few times over a few weeks it'll eventually get round to sorting them all out.

I've got a few with all but one song on an album matched but the iTunes Store link takes you straight to the album and its right there with that track listed. Earlier rips seem to be more prone to issues than more recent ones.
