Hello all :wave:

I don't know if this has been done on here before of not but if so then feel free to delete :)

So photography is the big, huge MASSIVE drain on my money. Everything is so expensive once you start looking at the letter L and the like (not sure what those nikon :puke: people call their alright glass ;)).

BUT sometimes it is the little things that make a massive difference to your photography.

So what are those little things that you have bought, collected or even DIY'd that has helped you?
 
Going out with the camera. I'd almost forgotten you could do that.
 
Adjusted the diopter on the viewfinder, things are a lot clearer now
 
Getting to come on here and get great feedback from all you lovely Canon people......and the, er ....:gag: Nikon user too :)

It's got to be one of the simplest of things to make, a good flash diffuser can make a lot of difference. I made mine from some foam sheets from hobbycraft. :)

Had done it before, but my eyesight must have worsened or maybe I changed it for when I had glasses on

Spot on about the embarassing bit :shake:

lol, had I not done this I'd never know what was in there!:lol::lol::lol: shame it doesn't have more adjustment :nuts:
 
My little things that made the difference:

flash diffuser
reflectors
wireless remote trigger (you can shoot while chatting away from the camera)
canon 85mm (its tiny!)
ZP Compass - Android app
Tide prediction app
 
My best move to low cost:

When I decided to down grade . . . :thinking: to just one lens, Nikon 18-70 f3.5/f4.5. Photography does not cost me a penny now, I dont spend all my time trolling the media adverts 'wishing', dont even buy the magazines now . . . well, AP every so often:shrug: A grate release and I enjoy my photography more . . .

You can get a part which provides more magnification if you need it like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Canon-EB-2-Dioptric-Adjustment/dp/B0000C4G7V presumably with whatever value your correction requires

Reckon I will need one of these in the future the way my eyes are going down the pan

Only good thing is my daughter is at uni studying to be an Optometrist, so at least the eyetests will be free or at least hey had better be :bat:

we don't need a letter to distinguish the wheat from the chaff..since all our glass is "alright" ;)

White heet as a background
white peice of chipboard as a floor
PC sync speaker wire extension

Means I have spent just £60 on 4 flashguns to do DIY High Key shots.

I use one half of a plastic milk bottle. I've found that I have to raise the flash EV up half/2 thirds of a stop as it's a bit thick, but boy does it work well...

Clothes Pegs 59p for 20 at ASDA. Hold reflectors in place, link together to hold flowers from moving in light to med winds etc etc.
 
Bodging an old phone charger to run an old flashgun off the mains - no more buying batteries!

Tinfoil food container to use on-camera-flash to trigger above flash without any direct light going on the subject.

I also agree, home made diffusers/reflectors, so so easy to make, and so satisfying as well.
 
Gaffa tape - holds the world together.
Tin foil and cardboard reflectors.
Lee 'Colour Magic' filter sheets - make my own flash filters.
