Anybody else wonder why the place grinds to a halt at the mere dropping of some pre-forecast snow.

3.5 hours to travel 15 miles into work this morning and no part of the road I used (A19 into York) appeared gritted...Snow plough (What's that then?)

Just so that I don't lose all faith in why I pay council tax, can anyone post nice smiley piccies of snow ploughs being used on british roads just so I know I'm not being sh@fted completely each month and that they do exist and I'm not the only one who watches the forecast and sees the bluddy stuff coming...................

Coffee time.....

Came on bad around here at half seven, can't believe its still snowing. 4 hours constant :). My brother works in York but didnt bother because of poor driving times.

Eight ins deep here and still coming down so staying in for now in front of a lovely glowing log fire:).
Had about 5 cars stuck on the bank outside ours' earlier on, they have all managed to get moving again since the snowplough came through.

got a pathetic covering of snow this morning its gone now :(

It's raining in York now and this is the "guess-cast" for the rest of the day so although you won't have snow or frost, be prepared to get wet!!!

Nothing at all up here, despite all the dire warnings that caused everyone to rush to Tescos yesterday and stock up for hibernation

I'm looking at several inches of snow outside here. We've done pretty well. I love it how just the mere suggestion of snow, or petrol shortages, throws the entire country into a state of panic, where as everywhere else in the world they just get on with it.

OH GOD, IT'S SNOWING!!! And yet, winter happens every year, pretty much anytime November thru to March for most of the country, you'd think people would have realised this by now, and adjusted accordingly.

But no. Nobody is taught winter driving - put your foot to the floor, and polish the snow into a sheet of ice why don't you? Brake with your gearbox, not your foot. Higher gear, lower revs than normal. Oh, and scrape all your damn windows, not just a small porthole on your windscreen...

This rant has now concluded - normal service has returned :)
