It's just typical isn't it? You go out somewhere and spot another togger and get chatting to them and come home wanting something bigger and better!!!
I was out today in quite a remote place where I live, and about 150 yards away from me was from what I could make out another snap happy user. I didn't pay much attention at first thinking the last thing he probably wants is another tog distracting him, however after walking in his direction he nodded and called me over as he noticed my SLR slung over my shoulder as well as the lens bag I was also carrying. After chatting for a while I asked him about his SLR(a Nikon D300) and how he gets on with it as well as your typical tog chat, he gave his camera and said "have a go" which at first I was hesistant as it was not mine, and that I'd never really used a Nikon before as I've near enough always used Canon SLR's. I was quite surprised how easy it was to use considering that some of the most often used controls I use were scattered about on it in different places. So now I'm debating on whether or not to sell off my 450D I have along with some of the lenses I used on it, and put the money towards a D300.
I've had the same thing happen with guitars, for anyone who plays the guitar there's a term called GAS which is widely used on guitar internet forums which stands for Gear Acquisition Syndrome which is basically the need for bigger better things and continual purchasing for the holy grail effect or for a particular item in mind- could this be it??
I've seen a few people on here fall foul of it.
Michael.
