Thanks TimThe cropped version or me Chris. Unusual take on the theme, but works nicely and I like the white / green against the browns.

Thanks Chris, I learned from the best. There can't be many more left for me to convert now![]()
I'd say it works, Chris, especially if you are prone to sitting on hill sides / tops![]()
Thanks Tim, great minds and all thatI say that fits the theme Chris, I'd googled the meaning so see how I could shoe horn in another train shot, and well, your description fits one of my ideas well.
I may have to call you out on a sloping horizon though![]()
Thanks Dean, the views were stunning, I haven't got through processing all the shots yetYep it works for me too Chris, culture can be interpreted very broadly (leaving lots of scope for my image) you were very high, must have been some stonking views !!!
GreatLangdale by TheWub, on FlickrOh yes... VERY nice, wonderful light !!!Thanks Dean, the views were stunning, I haven't got through processing all the shots yet
Excellent shot Chris - beautiful scenery. Put someone in the fg of your second shot and it would be another winner. Like them both,
Nice photo of people sitting on slopesI like #2 for the beautiful light.
Thanks all it was a great day for photosCulture, I do like being in the hills.
I like the composition with the person on the left in a world of their own. has a film, rather than digital feel to it, whatever that means
Cheers.
Thanks Emma, glad you liked them. The first works for me and the second is just wonderful - beautifully composed with great balance between shadow and that lovely light.

Thanks MarkHi Chris it works for me look like a lovely spot to spend a few hours with the camera.
Your second image is simply stunning lovely lighting falling over a stunning landscape.
Many a true word spoken in jest, up here the Lake District is a massive cultural influence; from Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter to hordes of Japanese tourists photographing everything in sight (I mean who would do that
) to people wearing £300 mountain jackets for shopping in Asda. Kendal mountain film festival is ranked amongst the top mountain festivals in Europe and probably one of the most significant cultural events in the area. So yeah, I wandered lonely as a cloud (apart from all the other people who were up there at the same time
)

There's no escaping it.![]()

Thanks Susie, I found "cultural" quite a nebulous thing to photograph, I'm still not sure I know what it meansHi Chris ....what can be better than sitting admiring that view, as long as you have a flask of hot chocolate to drink while you lookThe stunning scenery, the blue sky, the snow all work together perfectly. Interesting thoughts in your answer to d00d, culture definitely comes in many forms.
but I'm probably over thinking it.

I intend tocongratulations on the new macro rail Chris ... enjoy.
Nice try and a nice image. 18 shots! that's a lot.
I bought a macro rail a few years ago and use it now and again, much better that actually having to zoom in with the camera.
A few issues around the edges and within the photograph that you'll soon manage to overcome.
Enjoy
Cheers.
Thanks Susie, certainly could have been closer in and may well have come out better although the closer you get the more the tiniest little blemish becomes obvious. I think I have a lot to learn when it comes to attention to detail with the set up.Had to Google macro rail, that looks very handy and must save a lot of messing for stacking, I've only ever done a couple of successful ones and it certainly wasn't with 18 images. It all looks nicely in focus but I'm wondering if being a macro it could be a lot closer in with more focus on the berries, just a thought, I could be totally wrong.
Thanks BerndGreat idea for arranged, and in my opinion great result!
Thanks Carl, it's basically a gizmo that lets you move the camera back and forth on the tripod so you can lock focus and move the camera to change the focus point, it takes the guess work out of adjusting the focus across the subject.Looks fabulous to me Chris - beautiful colours and lighting. Haven't a clue what a macro rail is but the results look excellent ... something to add on to my list maybe.
Thanks Tim, festive is what I had in mind.Hi Chris,
Very festive and great piece of stacking (I still need to give this a go myself).
Works really well, there is loads of detail, I can't spot any issues with my untrained eye. Excellent use of naturally contrasting green and reds.
Thanks CliveThat sounds like a clever bit of kit. Nice arrangement, and suitably festive.
Thanks for looking EmmaStacking is certainly on my must-learn list next year. I love using shallow dof but also ruin a lot of images with the wrong bits oof!
