weekly It is what it is, Sirching for 52/2016 - 52 - Celebrate

Beautiful scenic Chris - wish I was there. Love the slightly ominous looking sky and the ferns in the fg.

That view is indeed big. Nice contrast between the green fields and the grey rocks in the background.

Smashing view for Big Chris, it has a real Autumn look to it, what a beautiful place to walk.

Thanks all, the autumn colours are just starting, should be good in a few weeks.

Urban - Number 1 for me Chris - the darkness of the water and wall are a lovely contrast to the light trails and reflections.
Pair - Beautifully composed shot - it has a quietness about it.
Big - Certainly fits the theme and a beautiful landscape shot.

Big landscape, small point but I would perhaps lose the bottom a little make it a more landscape just personal taste though

Nice idea for pair and good use of dof.

Beautiful big landscape shot. Wonder a panoramic would even be better?

Thanks both, I'm happy with that framing, I like the way the foreground shape mimics the slope of the mountains/valley side.

Oh I used to love walking around the Langdale Valley - Crinkle Crags, Pike of Stickle, Blea Tarn and the New Dungeon Ghyll Inn of course for refreshments afterwards.

It's certainly BIG and thanks for bringing back so many memories :)

Thanks Jill glad you liked it. I've been walking there since I was a lad but I had never been on Lingmoor between Langdale and Little Langdale, the views were great.

Definitely my favourite this week Chris - a sight to make the heart sing. Pin sharp across the image and wonderful autumnal colours appearing in the ferns. Thank you!
Wow, thanks Emma, glad you liked it :)

Sad and by appearances, looks a pretty recent kill too. After life as you say. Nicely taken with the light spilling mainly on the front part of the animal.

:( its dead, poor little thing:(

Thanks for the comments, I was out fairly early and it was just lying on the path, I'm guessing it died overnight. I can't see a fox taking something that size, possibly a stray dog got it or died for other reasons and then something had a nibble.

Wow, quite a powerful submission and the eye contact is slightly unnerving.

Feels a little strange looking from the POV and when I rotate my Mac screen it felt a little better.

Cheers.

Blimey that's a image that grabs your attention. Nice catch light in the eye

Thanks Andy, an uncomfortable angle for an uncomfortable subject ;)

It's grim but that's nature. Great photo, great colours, but I agree with Andy that the PoV is slightly strange.

Have to agree about the angle such a shame as it works quite well otherwise I like how you have highlighted it with a vignette

Thanks for the comments, the orientation is intentional

Hi Chris,
Big - A nice bit of landscape photography there, well captured ominous sky.
After - Woah, that's a powerful image for the theme. As Allan says, use of the vignette to emphasise the subject works well.
No issue with the angle here, that it isn't a standard rotation gives it more impact imo.

I am interested in why you chose that particular angle
It gives it a more edgey feel, it makes a somewhat disturbing scene a bit more disturbing, also it's not as boring as a straight on view.

Thanks TIm, at least someone gets the idea with the orientation

Can't say I like the shot but the idea is good and fit the theme.
Thanks Stan

Oo, I like that, and on theme too....

Whats the story ?

Definitely looks Alien Chris ... a monster emerging from the depths. Underground is alien territory to the majority of us anyway.

Very atmospheric Chris.
I like the way you've used the light source to pick out the texture / formation of the rock.
The range of light give it an eerie, other worldly feel.

Works very well, it does certainly look other-worldly.
