Thanks Emma, it certainly was an impressive viewOoh...I feel a bit dizzy looking at that - definitely works for the theme. What a view!
It's in woodland and I wanted to use a longish focal length to get a bit of separation of the gateposts from the background so framing options were pretty limited.Entrance, a good spot and well captured but compositionally I'd prefer it off-centre personally
I thought the light was pretty good, I be genuinely interested to know how you think it could be improved?in better light it would be an even stronger shot,
How did I miss that? Perhaps I shouldn't post (or do anything but sleep) after 17 hours on the gojust sort out that dust spot
Thanks for taking the time Paul

Thanks AllanCan only agree with the above a great view
Thanks for taking the time Paul,it's really interesting to see other people's interpretations. We were there quite a while after I took that shot but there wasn't much, if any improvement (it was early morning, not evening) and of course the shadows were getting shorter. Your rendition is certainly more dramatic, food for thought...Sorry Chris, I didn't mean to be so critical! The light is good... but I reckon if you'd stuck it out for another 20-30 minutes (perhaps less) it would have become great. Having said that, you can get a similar effect in post by adding a bit of grad to the top of the sky, some redness in the upper hills and an elliptical yellow grad on the main "lit" area... it's not great by any stretch but perhaps resembles what it might have looked like just that little bit later? You may want to desaturate my attempt slightly though as I just did it very quickly...

Thanks Dean, it was really good fun.Lovely view that Chris, really nice light in the valley and on the buildings too
Glad you guys had a great time !!
Thanks CarlWhat a beautiful tranquil scene. Like it Chris and spot on for the theme. Lovely colours.
Thanks ChrisI think the hamlet is almost lost among the hills, and TBH I quite like it as is.
Thanks DavidVery nice ... sun on the buildings midground and emphasizing the folds in the mountains BG, with contrasting sky.![]()
Thanks Chris, glad you like itLike that Chris, never been able to get landscapes quite right though. Seems just right to me, colours, vision
Thanks for taking the time Lee, I particularly appreciate your comments on colourful, I was beginning to think I had lost the plot with that oneHiya Chris
Rough - I prefer the track, gorgeous light and super leading lines
Covered - love the second with the snow, great depth to this photograph.
Colourful - I like this more for the lack of lots of colour, nicely done.
Entrance - nice greens and plenty of detail
Size - huge scale and nice light.
Thanks Jill, the Langdales are very busy these days, but then so is the whole Lake District. Just back from a night at GlenriddingThat certainly gives a sense of scale Chris. I used to love walking in the lakes, especially the Langdale Valley. Lovely colours there and at least it wasn't raining.
Just clone out the bird
Actually we were hanging around for the light, we had gone up there to take photosI agree with Tim. Good idea and nicely shot in terms of sharpness etc, but the perspective / crop could improve it.
The light is a little harsh too can see where Paul is coming from. Slightly earlier or in the evening would be lovely I'm sure. Course, I'm sure you weren't hanging around waiting for just this one photo!![]()

You are right in a sense, we went for a sunrise which turned out to be nothing special so went looking for other thingsDoh! I knew that though, just assumed this wasn't THE shot you were going for
I'll stop digging now....
So simple and original! Hard to argue you didn't pull it off too [emoji4]
Thanks Ian, it's odd but it turns out to be harder than I expected to get a half decent out of focus shotSo simple and original! Hard to argue you didn't pull it off too [emoji4]
Counter intuitive I guess. You spend years avoiding just that then choose to go against your instincts. Thanks Ian, it's odd but it turns out to be harder than I expected to get a half decent out of focus shot![]()
Thanks Chris, yes it certainly does make you think, I often end up doing something different to the first few ideas I had. This idea came to me today after I had tried a couple of other thingsChris, like your idea for this one, quite appealing even out of focus. Forgotten my first thoughts were the local cemeteries and memorials, then
after a couple have been posted thought of something different. The challenge really makes you think that's for sure.
Thanks Carl, I like your interpretation of it, which hadn't occurred to me.Hi Chris. My first thought strangely was that it was about forgetting how to act and play as a child rather than focusing the camera ha ha. Excellent and difficult as it is counter-intuitive as Ian says - I have that problem creating movement blur when I normally go to some lengths to acquire sharp focus.![]()
Thanks Chris, it's how most of my photos come outSimple but very effective Chris, great idea![]()
I'm glad I'm not the only one, join the clubThanks Chris, it's how most of my photos come out![]()
Thanks MarkOh so simple and clever Chris no crib from me
Thanks Emma, me too!Clever thinking - I've certainly been there a few times...![]()
Thanks for taking the time Minx, much appreciatedEntrance - great little find for the theme
Size - The houses are certainly dwarfed by the mountains very colourful landscape
forgotten - clever thinking
I thought it rather complimented my other works, "Forgotten to check the light meter", "Forgotten to set the shutter speed" and of course "Forgotten the SD Card"... got to be the wackiest take on a theme this year.![]()
