Reshoot - It’s an interesting subject - looks like a weird shaped rock to me. (It’s a fossilised coral?) Nice light on it and dof. But I can’t really see the shrubbery in the background. A bit too oof to tell!

Thanks Sheylara, it is both a weird shaped rock and a fossilised coral, I struggled to get the background how I wanted, I might try again when it's warmer outside

Thanks Jon, I agree the background is not what I wanted but it was a learning experience.
 
Chris, liking Artificial, could be all manner of things a computer cable, super image.

Thanks Paul, it's a composite of two light-trail photos, the "angel" was me waving two torches about and proved quite difficult but I learned a lot (mainly don't bother :)) and the wavy line is an LED strip on a length of wood (poor man's pixel stick) with me walking along moving it up and down. The wavy line was rotated and skewed to suit in PS. It was a lot of faff and took the last two evenings to get the above which has plenty of room for improvement I think.

Thanks - interesting read. Keep at it... the pixel stick in particular is a really interesting effect.
 
What an amazing composite, Chris, I must admit I thought the lines were a computer type cable, before I read the explanation.
The Angle is spot on too!

I thought it was a computer cable, too, so was quite intrigued how this fit into Artificial! :LOL:

Good effort, although I'm not sure how the two different elements go together. I really like the "angel", though, so might have liked to see just that!
 
Like it nice black backgrounds and good detail in the light-rail. I'd prefer if the upper left squiggle of light was not there, giving it a more minimal look .

An interesting shot there Chris which appears simple at first viewing, but after reading the write up, thre is actually a lot more to it.
I too thought that was a computer cable originally.
I do like the light painted angle, the contrast of the black background and bright white works nicely imo.
 
Just read your "how it was done" comments. I was intrigued when I saw the image and wondered. Good for you, experimenting is always fun because the end results is rarely what you expect ... in my experience anyway. I like the ribbon effect Chris. :clap:

Thanks all, seems to be a split between the angel and the ribbon. If you are interested it's this kind of LED strip - http://r.ebay.com/OyZLYp - if you want to try, it runs off 12V so you do need a power source or a small 12V battery but it probably would work off a lower voltage but be dimmer. I cut about 1m off the 5m strip.

If you scoll up you will see that I have had another go tonight and hopefully the retry has bit more association between the "angel" and the strip, also I have posted some just ribbons

Wow - I love these Chris! I agree with Andy about the first being stronger without the 'angel' - the led trail in that one is just perfect! I love the 'angel' in 2 and the squiggly shape of thee last. They are quite mesmerising :clap:

Thanks Allan and Emma, it's fun to play around with and unlike most photos you really don't know what you are going to get at first.
 
I love the wavy line of the first, and the bit at the end from the second.
I'd like to have a play with something like that.

Glad I made you smile Susie, getting reasonable focus was a bit of a pain, with hindsight it might have been easier to use a wider lens and crop it.
 
Oh wow, competition - I was rather hoping for dreadlocks but lost the "r" somewhere and ended up with deadlocks. Bet that couldn't have been an easy one to set up Chris. Done very well for sharpness and lighting. Great take. :clap:

:) I guess I could go for a Donald Trump :wideyed: it was a bit of a pain to set up and the shinyness didn't help, thanks for commenting.
 
That is personal, warts 'n all ... well I can't see warts as such but I'm now oddly familiar with your forehead. :)
