weekly It is what it is, Sirching for 52/2016 - 52 - Celebrate

Hi, that's an interesting take on the subject I quite like the idea of the intentional camera movement and the rock is still recognisable as a rock.
Its different and no shoehorn required for me I will take your word for it
Thanks Allan

Really really like the Abandoned image. liking the movement and the ghostly feel, quality
Thanks Lee, I'm really pleased you liked it, I was a bit concerned that no one would given the unconventional approach.

Belter, really liking this one. Abstract, slightly eerie and the muted colours work really well.

Only thing for me are the two vertical things on the LH third. Now I know you might not have been able to remove them (trees maybe), but I think the photograph would work better without them.

Anyways, one of my favourite so far

Cheers.

Wow, thanks Andy. Yes they are silver birches which is why I guess they stand out much more than the rest of the background. I might have a play at toning them down if I get time.

A really interesting take on the theme Chris ....it definitely has an eerie supernatural feel to it ...I like the story behind it too ...well done for thinking of something so completely different.
Thanks Susie

I like that image, Chris. I'll be honest and say I'm struggling a bit with the connection to the theme but I care far less about that than the impression a picture makes - and yours creates a good one.

Very different take as Allan says, good that you've got the rock as an anchor in all the movement. Nice!

I'm probably stretching a point but the rock was carried about 25 miles by a glacier some 15000 years ago then the glacier melted abandoning the rock a long way from home. I think over the course of 52 weeks a bit of photographing what you want and making it fit the theme lightens the load a little.

Anyway thanks for the encouraging comments.

Wow that is a great take on the theme Chris - makes a terrific abstract. (The journey you describe is very much akin to Southern's rail commuter service into London but not nearly as interesting). Wonderful

:D Glad I left all that commuting into London behind. Thanks for the comment.

Incredible thought provoking image
Thanks, I wanted something more engaging than a rock in a field.

I like that the rock has been moved, so slowly, and it now stands completely still and yet you have managed to create motion in it's capture! It's a great shot, very unique!
As for the theme, fits well enough for me (y)

Thanks Mark, we tend to see big rocks as timeless and static I wanted to inject a sense of motion and change.

Hi Chris

Instantly most likeable image ... shoehorn, I thought, but no! on theme.

Great movement, great colour. (y)

Thanks David, appreciate it.

Well, its certainly different !

The back story really helps (me) with the interpretation and it very clever, like the PP and how it suits the story, well done :)

Thanks Jon, glad I made you look for the story.

2016-52-Camouflage by TheWub, on Flickr

So I went out in the rain with a few vague ideas and a big shoe horn in the bag but then I came across this and it seemed perfect ;)

I@d say job done.
Took me a while to spot the little blighter.
Npt exactly used to then sitting on a path like that :-)

Love that "camouflage"! The photo is funny and sad and poetic at the same time. It's brilliant! Poor swan, lol.

Love the Alligator Chris, who'd have thought it eh?

:D

Yup - took me a second or two to see him too. I saw the hide first and then the walkers...must have taken him for a puddle despite that orange beak!

Thanks all for commenting, lucky find and not what I was expecting to photograph for this theme.

Don't tell them about the 'gator though :D

Clever bit of camouflage to hide away in a bird sanctuary and then not only that but to sit where people don't expect to find you, right under their feet! Amazing. Well spotted Chris.

Posing just for you Chris :) .....perfect for the theme and funny too that it's sitting outside the hide so happily.
I spotted the swan from a distance and spent a while trying to sneak down the path so as not to disturb it but then some people came past it the other way and it didn't move at all! Thanks for commenting

Looks a nice hide, on theme well taken
The shiny new "hide" amused me, thanks for commenting

Hi, very funny that hide is not so camouflaged though, very shiny, oh the irony

Hi Chris

Abandoned - that's a very striking image with great colours (and I have no real idea how you blurred everything but the rock)

Camouflaged - perfect timing as the swan obviously makes the shot, oblivious to the fact that it's right outside the hide.

Thanks Nick, the rock was a composite, the blur came from a shot where I moved the camera during the exposure and I photoshopped a photo of the rock on top of it.

Great image Chris and fits the theme made me smile too!
Thanks Mark

Chris Hi,

Camouflaged is very good, a few ways to interpret it. Quality.

Dangerous - nice images, looks far to exciting for me.

That is quick !!!! #2 for me by far. It doesn't lose any sense of danger - #1 may have the danger by height but this has the confined spaces which would certainly worry me more. Besides, it is technically a harder shot to take I would have thought and it is very nicely taken Chris

Thanks Carl, got some other things I want to shoot this weekend so thought I would use photos from a couple of weeks ago and get it done. You are right that the second was harder, the first being in natural light but I like the framing in the first because I avoided getting the sky in which was just grey but bright enough to be blown compared to the hole. The second was a bit spray and pray and shows how good the little TG3 is. It was just using available illumination, no flash.

Hi Chris ...as you say you probably wouldn't find anything more appropriate than that ...not something I could do ...ever. I did manage the Leap of Faith at one of those Clip and Climb centers last week ...that nearly gave me a heart attack.
They both portray the theme really well ...I suppose the first one does look slightly more Dangerous as it gives more of an idea of the scale of things ...but the second one does look very slippy.
