It has begun....and now it's ended....again **TP OFFICIAL WORLD CUP THREAD**

Spain did exceptionally well at keeping possession and pressing Germany at any given moment. I would have preferred Holland v Germany - biggest rivals, could have proved a feisty affair. Also, Germany as a united nation have yet to win the World cup.

My predictions for the final: 2-0 Spain in 90 minutes. Villa to score first and pinch the golden boot.

Germany v Uruguay - 2-1 Germany. Ozil to score first.

Good shout, but I would not rule out Spain, if they can put some more of their chances away.

I have being saying watch Spain since the begining as I feel they have the two best midfielders in the world, in Iniesta and Xavi. I think they will be too strong from the dutch, but at least we have a final with two teams that want to play football.

Sorry Joe - the job's been taken by Paul the Psychic Octopus!

at this rate there's bound to be a sending off

OUCH!!!! de Jong just got off with assault

well done spain, i said it would be a draw at end of 90 then go to extra time and the game would be won by a goal difference of 1 goal, just got the team wrong, should have listened to the octopus!

That's one mega octopus.. i am going to Germany tomorrow to drop 49 numbered balls in his tank!!!!!

Actually Rob, you're already there - my idea - we'll go 50/50.....

Dutch were dirty cheating bastids - lucky not down to about 7 men!

Another dreadful game and an instantly forgettable World Cup. Thought Webb reffed it sensibly and correctly. It was a one off and he was onto a loser whatever happened considering the attitude of the players.

dreadful game yes, instantly forgettable world cup - no.

France and italy out in the group stage, both brazil and argentina dont make the semis and two teams in the final who have never won it before, new zealand getting their first ever point, then going on to get three, vuvuzelas and the media attention that was caused, the crazy lines man decisions for england and argentina that got their teams sent home and caused fifa to relook into goalline technology, plus the first world cup in africa and lastly paul the octopus! Wont be forgotten

Well done South Africa, good show put on.:clap:

You can argue about legacy etc and given the bad press beforehand where you'd have expected to lose 25% of your travelling support to violence then I think they have done really well. Great local support of the event and the vuvuzelas won me over after week 1.

The football - well too much negativity but the organisers could't do anything about that. Very poor from the Dutch and they have lost my support.

I cannot understand the Dutch... have they all gone mental??? Webb had a good game, pretty much all the bookings were justified and you could argue that they could have had 2 players sent off well before he finally did send one off.

Maybe they should blame the way they played, not taking chances rather than this. I am not one to stick up for refs, the guy who did the Chelsea v Barca game and the ref from the ENg v Ger game deserve all the stick they get - but Webb did a good job.
