You see, I dont see too much of an issue with the handball and think its nothing like the French. The Irish had no way to correct it, goal given, with this game they had a penalty to finish the game and bottled it.

I dont see handball on the line any different to a professional foul or a keeper bringing a player down as in many of those cases it would have been a certain goal.
 
Sounds dramatic I was in the pub all night chatting didn't see the game, glad my bets still on though!

pretty much agree with that, they got the penalty, the defender got sent off, they took the penalty and missed :shrug:
 
After an evening to consider it, I do agree with you guys. The handball was retaliated fairly - defender off and penalty kick given. The penalty kick was the chance to win it, and they cocked it up. Unfortunate, but fair.
 
Pretty much spot on, I wonder if the FIFA police will increase the ban - I bet they do!

I have a sneaky feeling for Germany today, well my bookie does :D
 
Did FIFA do anything about Kaka's sending off? FIFA could give our FA a few lesson in being inept!
 
Well, I have £1 each way on Uruguay at 25/1 and £1 on Germany at 9/1 to win WC (half the odds if they lose final) and a couple of quid on Klose at 14/1 to be top scorer! So things are looking up!

The Germans appear to have the nack of producing when it matters. They also seem to come into big tournaments, either not playing well, or having a young team, and always talking down their chances. Maybe the English press should adopt a strategy of writing about how poor the team is, before the tournaments start.
Anyway, I have fancied Spain all along, and they are still there, but I would like to see Holland win, as they probably had one of the best sides, during the 70's, that never won the WC (with the exception being Scotland of course:lol:).
 
That Germany performance was amazing. Holland will have a job to beat them come the final....

Germany will win, but think it will be tight. 2-1 with Villa, Klose and Podolski all scoring!

you could be right, semis are normally always tense, teams are usually too afraid of making a mistake to really play well

absolutely, its the losing is not an option scenario, both teams are more scared to not lose, just like the first game of the group

i wouldn't be so sure ... if you looke through this thread I've been pretty spot on with the results, one to note was a 2-1 scoreline brazil vs north korea.

well, Germany haven't got into this yet. Spain should be 1-0 up, but they're not, can see this getting really tense :D

I thought it was!

I enjoyed the game, Spain's passing at times was outstanding but as a rugged defender myself I really liked watching Germany's tactical play and teamwork.

Would have preferred a Germany v Holland final myself though.

i only get it right when no-one bets but im going with

3-1 to germany in the 3rd place game and

1-1 after full time in the final with holland scoring in extra time 2-1 overall

I'd agree with you on the Germany game, I can see goals in that game.... Spain/Holland, I think will be 2-1 Holland but in normal time...

I'd like to see Spain win as my Father in Law is Spanish, but I had a bet on both teams before the tournament so either will do. If Holland win it will pay for my holiday and if Spain win it will go someway towards our spending money :D :lol:
