It continue's

Looks like it's just been covered in polyurethane glue - the label on the lens is unscathed (albeit part covered up) However, why would anyone fake it?

I'm not about to find out what Mag alloy looks like when burnt, I like my Oly too much!

Don't encourage him Richard - he has been ranting about this all over the internet.

so the plastic cover of the 7D body got hot enough to melt but the heat inside the body with all that heat wasnt enough to even warp the thin plastic of the CF card? total BS.

as for the ssd in the macbook air surviving, also BS, its not a sodding black box recorder from a plane.

Nick.

Because the story IMO is BS, all the stories on the net is only about Sandisk CF and SD cards out of all the other brands.

Nick.

I take it that you've never tried cooking a baked alaska then. Ice cream covered in meringue. Goes in an oven hot enough to cook the meringue mixture, but doesn't melt the ice cream.

I agree with you.

look in this picture in the yellow part the eyeplece as a V cut in it but in the blue part it's not there? also the yellow eyeplece is badly melted but in the blue part is Not?

Also on picture 2 in the Red part the CF holder in the camera is discolored by the fire but in the green part is not discolored?

That' why IMO it's a fake and the canon 7D's which are melted in different ways.

I don't care also but it make's one think about why people go to any length to make a fake story on the web. for Sandisk.

I don't care also

Your rants on the various fora would suggest otherwise.....

Anyway, if it was a fake, put together by Sandisk, wouldn't it be more beneficial for them to have shown a lightly burnt card that still worked, rather than a pristine one that survived unscathed? To me the story/picture is more an advert for how well a Canon 7D would protect your CF card in the event of a fire ;)

and dont MGFs have the engine at the back and the boot at the front anyway

but really who cares enough to over analyse this

Engine in the middle and luggage space behind that. Personally I think the fire was caused when Lord Lucan tossed a lit match into the car as he rode past on Shergar......

who cares... lol.

And if they were advertising - they'd at least have used the new line of cards...

Actually, I've got a conspiracy theory. CanonEOS is clearly very dedicated to proving that this is 'fake' - Maybe he is secretly advertising for LEXAR!

I was only making a point to the fake story if you want to believe it's not fake that's in your opinion but not mine.;)

like you...., there was not even a mark on that card...

That;s why it start's off with a conspiracy theory;)

Just like the magic bullet in JFK. And Military planes in the Towers

As others have said, who cares?

I'm not sure what's driving your crusade on this but it's very strange to have such an obsession with a story such as this...

Head, nail etc.

I can't honestly see the point of faking it' It's not really a good advert for sandisk because the camera protected the card. It's not a good advert for canon because the cameras knackered. And more worrying it quite a bad advert for mg if the car just randomly caught fire.

Mgfs are well known for catching fire, blowing head gaskets etc.

Looks like the rob eroded bits melted, maybe with a strap, but that's all, the battery gripmportion looks less melted so it's highly likely that it's genuine.

Would have been interesting if the magnesium had caught as well. I am guessing the alloying changes the temperature it catches fire, looking at the car damage I'd imagine it was hot enough to ignite magnesium.

Just to confound the Sandisk theory - and yes I have nothing better to do, one of Oggys links shows what looks to be a Fuji card;)

I want to see a picture of the Macbook Air...
