ISS for those that are interested.....

Looks like Santa is making a practise run at 6PM on commercialmas eve - starts in the West at 5:57. Good long pass on commercialmas day too, starting in the West at 5:08 and vanishing at 5:15. Both described as incredibly bright. Anyone brave enough to post the prediction times and paths on mumsnet or similar?! :D

If you can, download the Android app "iss detector". It tells you everything you need to know about each pass including the direction, elevation, magnitude, duration and you can track it in real time.

Nice one Heather...it seems to be over most months at some point, I might have a shot at it over Christmas pass it off as Santa

I actually just suggested this to my sister (she has a four year old) and she thinks its a great idea

The Heavens Above site - http://www.heavens-above.com/ - is also a very good source of info on the ISS and lots of other things.

If you register with the site (it is free) you can input you lat. and long. and have all the information tailored to your location.

Several free apps available for Win8, found by a search for sis in the app store - maybe a similar search in the iStore?

ISS spotter for the iPad is what I use, live tracking plus it sets alarms before overpass so you can plan ahead, it will also provide elevation stats for what angle to look at etc :)
