Hi Folks
A bit of help please I have booked a holiday on the IoW but will not have my car.
I have an XT-1 with an 18-135, a 27mm and a 100-400.
Can anyone who has visited or lives there tell me if its worth lugging the 100-400 around or will the others suffice.
I should add this is not primarily a photographic holiday.

Having visited there last year, I wouldn't have thought you'd have needed the larger lens.

Its where you go that's important in my opinion.

My mistake, I was not concentrating
 
I shot a Kestrel whilst on the IOW on holiday, and wished I had something longer than 300mm. The 18-135 covers the 27mm so why not leave that behind in preference to the 100-400, which isn't a particularly heavy lens. However if a family rather than a photographic holiday, perhaps go for the matrimonial harmony.
 
I would have thought that the 18-135 would have been suitable as a walkabout lens and the 27mm should you wish to take out something smaller in the evening.
Really you need to establish what you want to shoot and where you'll be visiting.

Well, that, really.

But FWIW I had a family holiday on the IoW last year and the longest lens I took with me was a lightweight FD 200mm f/4 prime, which I made just occasional use of.

I shoot with a full frame A7 and with the XT-1's 1.5x crop your 18-135mm has almost exactly the same angle of view at the long end.

As a more general observation, and chiming with dcash29's comment, I never really understand 'What lens do I need for X place?' threads. Lens choice is about what you do with your photography, your way of thinking about the world around you. That's largely something internal to your vision, rather than an external pressure imposed by the world.

For myself, I know I can happily make photographs in most places with just a 35mm or 50mm prime. A wide angle lens is useful for interiors or very tight urban environments, but I can find ways round it if I don't have one on me. Beyond that why travelling to New York or Corfu would require me to radically rethink my lens line up compared with Paris or Camden I don't get.
 
Thanks to all who contributed, I think with a bit of careful packing I will get the 100-400 in , apparently in the hotel grounds there are some red squirrels so it will be worth taking just for a chance at those
