News just in...Isis trying to take hostages at Radisson hotel in Mali...security forces in fire fight...:(
 
BBC reports gunfire and a possible attempt to take hostages.
No mention of ISIL.
 
Not yet confirmed, then again neither was Paris on Friday. However if I was a betting person I would put money on daesh involvement.

supposedly a couple of hundred hostages ,the floor they have taken is used by air france staff ,here we go again
 
CNN have reported 3 people known to have been killed and 170 taken hostage.

But not many ordinary civilians have a bunker to hide down, if / when it all goes pear-shaped. :D

So the "ruling classes" will have to be content with ruling their selves..
I've just had a scary thought, look at what would be left, to seed the human race, in the event of a total disaster.
If there was ever one reason for peace, that would be it :D

I read a book years ago about World War 3. It was written in 1999. It features a US invasion of Iraq, North Korea developing nuclear weapons, and an emerging caliphate called Islamic Alliance.

Maybe it wasn't as fictional as I thought it was.

I read a piece today by Terry Waite. The gist was that negotiating with Islamic terrorists was impossible and he sadly concluded that the use of appropriate force was necessary however towards the close he said that mediation would be needed to solve the problem.

I wish that someone would explain how negotiation / diplomacy / mediation or any other form of bargaining or talking will work and get us to a state of peace with Islamic extremists. How can we pursue a diplomatic solution and what will this solution be? What will Islamic extremists demand of us to agree to stop killing us or at least trying to end our western civilisation?

At the end of WW2 Nazis were sent for what we might today call reprogramming but before they could be sent to learn how to be human again they first had to be defeated on the battlefield and captured and I really can't see any other way forward with Islamic extremists. They surely need to be confronted by force of arms, defeated and either killed or captured and only then can we try to rescue a human from the monster they've become. I can't see pursuing a hearts and minds campaign working as even if that could stop the flow of new recruits it isn't going to change the hearts and minds of the very committed core and they'll surely have to be confronted with military force.

I'm pretty sure they try... but there is a great concrete wall, many heavily armed policemen on the streets and they don't let in any refugees. Despite that they do get some bombings on the busses and other lone wolf attacks every now and then.

Does no one else find it obscene that our arms companies are arming both sides and laughing all the way to the bank? The same banks holding Isis money no doubt.

If we stopped selling them arms and stopped the black market oil. Destroyed their drug crops they would be crippled. That is when you go in with the troops.

The three headed beast oil, arms and banks.

I'd be interested to know which of our arms companies are selling weapons to IS? And what type of weapons?

I get the impression they want to kill anyone and everyone not willing to convert to their ideals. So promise that and do it and you should be safe.
