Is your Blog worth the effort

The blog has to have something that the punters are interested in, its as simple as that. If you give the customers what they want they will return time after time. I did the Apple top tips thread which was basically a year long blog and there were lots of people reading it every day and interacting because it had information that they wanted to see.

So the idea is..... What can you tell us that we want to read? OR Can you tell us something in a style we will enjoy reading? OR Can you tell us something we can't find out elsewhere........

Good luck with the initiative anyway.

You get back what you put in.

My blog serves as a great tool for SEO and getting my site noticed, as an outlet for me to store thoughts, to pass on information that I may find useful and also (passively) as a sales channel.

My most recent sale was a result of a search on a keyword, tagged in my blog, which then pointed to my portfolio page and a sale was conducted

WP blogs are setup in a standard format, making them easy for spiders and web robots to index and understand your content.

If you have 5 minutes a day then blog.
Even 15 minutes per week is all that is needed to build and maintain a profile

I use one, mainly for 'sneak peeks' for jobs I've done that day/weekend. Can be hard work though as I haven't yet found anything to help me with my images, in terms of laying them out as I want them.

Prophoto seems to be the best theme to use for this, I really do like them but I do find them becoming VERY popular these days to the point where you can look at ten different blogs and 8 will look the same.

I had a personal photography blog until a couple of days ago when I messed up the upgrade...terminally. It was more of a diary for my own benefit and I doubt many ever looked at it. I've rebuilt my website and I'm considering adding a new blog.

Which is why I've now disabled comments, what a pain in the cheeks that was.

really, I told WP to treat any comment with a link in as spam and never had an issue after that

I didn't realise you could do that, will go and have a play around and see what I can do!

Blogs are excellent for SEO if you keep them updated and they can be a great way to showcase your work. Altough don't expect a blog to immediately improve your rankings. It is something yo uwill have to work at. Submitting your blog to directories and submitting your RSS feed to sites is a great way to syndicate your content for others to see.

Sorry guys I don't know why this posted twice!

We don't have readers comments on the BLZBlog because that would be a nightmare, but it is fun to add stuff - we're using it to write personal photography angles on the events we cover, which isn't something you'd normally see published from us - normally its just straight newspaper and magazine reporting, so its fun to be able to write about being a motorsport journo for a change.

I think some people read it... :D

There's a great BTCC article on there at the moment that tells you stuff you can't find elsewhere!
