Is UEFA bluffing or very serious?

FFS children, can you stop squabbling over this English/Welsh/British thing? Or take it out your a different thread? Or at least wait until Wimbledon when you can argue about whether Andy Murray is Scottish or British.

Dad????????

So, more trouble with England fans near Lyon (or somewhere) last night. Are UEFA going to send England team home then or was it an empty threat? Part of me wishes they would I have to say. Ok it's not fair on the team or the normal non-violent fans but it might be a trigger once and for all stopping the hooligan element. Cant see them doing it though.

Well, from what I read from other members here and on the BBC News. It seems it only applies to inside the stadium during football matches, not anywhere else during outside hours.

So if English fans are rioting before, during, or after a match, and inside or around the football grounds, including the stadium's car park, then UEFA takes action.

But if English fans are rioting during night time and in a pub or hotel or park or anywhere else, well away from any football club's stadium, then that's the job for the French police, not UEFA.

It seems they [some of the members here who posted their options on this topic] do have a point.

Even if it applied to violence outside the ground, surely UEFA would first have issued us with the same weak-kneed suspended expulsion that they gave to Russia.

UEFA will do nothing more than hand out a few thousand euro fines as they're cowards. I know the majority of this forum are English but i don't mean to offend you when i say that England fans have caused trouble for years and have never been properly dealt with BUT as well as this there has been massive racism problems involving Eastern European teams going unpunished as well during Champions League games etc. UEFA either has to be firm with the strict liability laws supposedly in place or they should just shut up about it all and admit they don't have the will to control the game.

There is absolutely no chance of Russia being expelled when they're hosting the next World Cup despite their fans being violent beyond belief. If they kicked out the English and or the Russians then maybe the rest would seriously think about whether a street brawl was worth it.

I was on my way home last year from Blackpool with my wife and three year old son and we stopped at Gretna services. Scotland were playing Poland at Hampden that evening and the services were full of Polish supporters and their behaviour was an absolute disgrace. The were standing in the middle of the car park urinating on cars in front of kids and women, throwing their empty glasses onto the car park smashing them everywhere. There was also two idiots standing at the car park directing cars down an entry slip road where lorries were driving toward them. The authorities need to act too as there were two policemen standing watching all this unfold and i know they were outnumbered but they get paid to act in the safety of the public and they failed miserably just like their French counterparts.

It wasn't squabbling it's what I like to call debate. ;)

Anyway, I'm glad the British team won. England were worthy winners.
