Is this worth taking a punt on??

Would you chance putting no reserve on a 5D MKIII

Personally I would be dubious.
The Seller has a feedback score of 7, out of which they have sold 4 items.

2 jackets a pair of trainers and Sept last year an 5D Mk2

It certainly could be genuine, a private seller having just bought a mk3 and realised they don't want it.

But as already stated, no reserve of even a reasonable buy it now.

from the page "This camera was my first prize in a local photography competition. I already have a perfectly good Canon 1D so this camera must go."

maybe true, but i'd ask for real pictures instead of web pictures

This is a Hong Kong model not UK
not sure how canon would treat that for warranty or even VAT etc - dont know how those competitions work

This camera was my first prize in a local photography competition. I already have a
perfectly good Canon 1D so this camera must go.

you could ask for details of the competition to check out validate

i sold a prize once on ebay - but didnt insist on cash and also listed the competition for validation if required and emails confirming the prize

i would also expect people are watching and the bidding will go up in the last few minutes anyway

Isnt 'cash on collection' against eBay's policy? With an item like this, having the safety of PayPal would be a must if I was going to splash out upwards of a grand.

Pretty much what I was going to say. I would want real pics and serial no. Also a bit of an odd prize for a photography comp. I.e. Supposed all my gear was non Canon - oh it is...:lol: What use would a Canon 5D Mk III be to me? (Other than the obvious sell everything and switch brands)

Again this could be genuine though the Cash on collection worries me. Turn up with £2K in notes and get hit over the head?

. Turn up with £2K in notes and get hit over the head?

solution to that is either to insist on a meet right outside the police station - or to turn up with several large and ugly mates in tow.

what sort of photography competition would give the winner a grey import from hong kong

£1500 at the moment...

Sellar is based just outside Bury

if anyone seriously thiks this is a good idea ive also got some magic beans that I can let you have 'cheap' ....
