Is this netbook sufficient for the task ?

I've been given the task of purchasing and setting up a new netbook for our club secretary, something he can easily fit into a backpack, preferably not a full sized laptop.
This is just for club business only, it's main use will be running MS Office (probably Home & Business package) Word, Outlook and a little bit of excel, printing, pdf files, Avast antivirus and browse internet.
He will not be allowed to install or download personal stuff onto it, viewing videos and photo editing & storage will not be an option.

I know there are better and a bit more powerful netbooks around I could be wrong but all we need is something basic to do the job.

It will suffice, but if they are used to anything "modern" it will feel awfully slow.

Bit heavier, but about 4x as quick! Battery life may be less though if that's an overriding concern....

Edit: the processor maths was off.. it may still appear slow though - depending on what the user is used to

I use an almost identical one on the road (the HP Pavillion DM1) and it runs everything you mention without a problem.

FWIW, we now have 2 netbooks running Win8 in this household and both are touchscreen devices. We both find Win8 to be great using the tiles and touchscreen but a little clumsy when using a mouse or touchpad.

Have to admit that I use this one (Asus S200E) mainly as a way of getting TV into the conservatory (using the TVCatchUp app) and for browsing/e-mails. My wife uses the other one (Lenovo Yoga 11 [well, she is a Yoga teacher!]) for similar things but also does some of her invoicing on it.

Not sure how critical ultimate speed will be for office type uses - I can understand that a lower powered machine could make image processing a PITA but word processing etc is hardly that demanding!
