Beginner Is this mark removable? Canon 60 sensor

Is it the stringy looking bit with the dot?

It looks like it just needs a sensor clean, can be done at home, although for peace of mind, get it done professionally. Sometimes it can take several goes to get a satisfactory result. I recently did my 5Div at home, it took 4 swabs.

Can you take a picture of the sky, or non textured surface, at f22 and post that pic? ............. so we can see exactly what is on your sensor.

This is how I look for contamination...

Select minimum aperture (the largest f number. f16? f22?).
Set the focus to manual and set it to infinity or there abouts.
Take a picture of a white door aiming for a shutter speed into seconds. This could mean selecting a low ISO and photographing a door in a less well lit area.
Keep the camera close to the door (focus is not required so no need to worry about minimum focus distance) and move the camera about whilst the shutter is open. (The long shutter speed, the short camera to door distance and moving the camera whilst the shutter is open should prevent any detail in the door being recorded and any detail you see in the picture should be just any contamination on the sensor.)

I always try the in camera cleaning mode first. If that doesn't work I try a rocket blower and only if that doesn't work do I do a contact clean.

Good luck with the cleaning but remember that you're not cleaning the sensor you're cleaning a piece of glass in front of it. It is I suppose possible to cause damage but it's perhaps unlikely especially if you use a swab and exercise normal caution.

Good luck with it.

Thank you both - any recommendations on sensor cleaning kit?

I use K+F Concept Swabs and Pig Iron fluid.

Although if I needed to buy now......................

Search | Wex Photo Video

Not necessarily from WEX but just to show you what is available.

If it's Canon 60D, you'll need the crop sensor version.

Also, watch a few YouTube vids before attempting.
