My daughter was asking what's for dinner, instead of whattsupp I replied here. It's Chicken and Rice for those that are interested.

In answer to the question posed in the title of this thread: "No".

Way back when I was privileged and honoured to be a Mod on here. Trust me there is a crap load of stuff that goes on in the TP staff room, to the ultimate benefit of all users of this place, of which 99% is never seen (and never needs to be seen!) by us regular users. But it keeps the engines running, the wheels oiled and the hamster fed!

Over moderated? Never!

While we're on the subject, I would like to ask the mods/admins if you're interested in RTMs for those types of "this is boring crap, who cares about it" type responses, or would I be wasting my time? It does seem to me that any time any thread even touches on the more intellectual, contemplative, theoretical side, people decide to contribute with "who cares?" "there's no point discussing this, there's no correct answer" "not this rubbish again", etc. I *like* those discussions, but they can never withstand the sidelining by people who would rather not let people think too hard about critical theory or whatever.

(If any dinosaurs here remember Usenet, you probably remember "the lurkers support me in email". Well, I genuinely have had lurkers PM on here to agree with me on this point

yep, we can't act on them if we don't see them. If people are really not interested in the thread, they'll not care if they get banned from the thread and can no longer contriibute, will they... ;)

No need to venture over to OOF, it is here without the Bickering :)
To move or not to move that is the question ;)

Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune comments
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles Trolls
And by opposing end them. To die, to sleep-- <to moderate>
No more--and by a sleep moderate to say we end
The heartache...

:D

I think I have an idea what you are trying to say :) ...

Also
I am sure there was a time when OOF type of posts, were deleted from other areas of the forum

Glad you do, do you mind explaining it back to me? :D

They get moved to OoF as we spot them, and this one is now border line ;)

Please move it. I'm banned from OOF so I won't be able to read it anymore and can get on with my life!!!

Actually, this sounds like the answer to the thread that started this conversation. Shouldn't we just close off threads to people whose only interest is to say they're not interested. I for one would like to see the arty side discussed without the queue of moronic 'I don't get it so it must be crap' commenters. Surely a few moderating decisions like that would allow those threads the room they need to prosper properly.

Currently from the A word appearing we're on a countdown to the inevitable thread lock. Surely that shouldn't be the case.

You can always unsubscribe, so it doesn't come up in your notifications ;)

Actually as I said a few posts back its easy enough to do, but I feel that "we" don't apply it enough.
Which of course is our fault no one elses ;)

Lost me on that one?

Yep. Whenever "art" appears it's always "Emperor's new clothes" "Load of ......" etc. Plus "everyone's opinion is equally valid"; "it's all a matter of opinion" "I'm not interested in this" etc. etc.

And I'm also fed up with this type of post.

So you can't see what people are saying about you there? I wondered why you hadn't responded to the allegations even though they tagged you in. :p

What's that then?
One you have to do on your own, the other you pay lots of money for, for someone to tell you to use will power :D

FFS Dave! don't you start :p

Ok, I've read all the way through and I feel compelled to say one thing. This thread has been placed in the wrong section - should be in 'Forum Discussion'.

Jeez, never a mod around when you need one...

Edit - ok, where did that section go??!

There's no problem with people having different opinions, it's just an issue with how some put it across. After all there's so much disinformation on the internet, it's down to the sensible, level headed people to point this out.
Of late I think one of the problems (in at least three or four sub-forums) is the absence of different opinions. If an image doesn't conform to the accepted style the guardian angels of that particular subforum will soon let you know about it in a very blunt fashion. To the point in a couple of these subforums that these GAs are posting more edits of other peoples images than their own.

It's been said before, far too many subforums...

It went ages ago, probably about the time of the switch to Xen,

It's been said before, far too many subforums...
And the Admin agree, but its not easy trimming it down too much, they have to give Meg a slap for laughing :D
(Strike a happy medium :coat: )

But seriously, moderation is just right, not too much, not too little.

I'd have to say it was moderate.

I remember them, black and round and go on a turntable

Pretty sure I've seen them in gold, silver and platinum as well ;).

Actually if memory serves me I think I remember a pink one as well :p.
