I ordered through Amazon Photoshop CS 5

they are out of stock it seems although the website states differently

heres a message ( e mail they sent me)

Is this a good deal

Hello

We have received your order, but unfortunately we just ran out of stock of the Photoshop CS5 (PC).

We realise this our fault for not taking the listing down so we are willing to compensate you by offering to send you adobe masters collection CS5.5 (PC) which includes Photoshop CS5.5 we will do this at no extra cost. Would this be acceptable?

We take measures like this because we pride ourself on providing excellent customer service and we like to keep all our customers happy.

We look forward to your reply

Kind Regards

I have no knowledge of the package they are offering- anyone have any knowledge comments etc

Thanks in advance

seems genuine as the e mail offer came via Amazon

I have accepted the offer via a reply e mail to Amazon and await delivery - looking at the spec it looks like a cracking package

Given that £503 is over-priced by about £170 for CS5 at the moment (Adobe are offering it direct for £328.80)... that does look an extremely good price for the substitute you've been offered if it's genuine.

As said the e mail came direct from Amazon and Im happy at the outcome
as the offered progamme is far more expensive than my original order for CS 5

Just waiting for it to drop onto my door mat

That is an incredible deal. Bite their hands off.

Edit: i have the master collection and it will be all you ever need for every type of media.

That is more jammy than a jammy thing.

2.7k for the corporate version. I paid £500 for the student version.

Doesn't look genuine to me. If that is a verbatim copy of the email it is very poor.

How do you know it actually came from Amazon? Was the initial order you placed listed as "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk". If not then it is a reseller and there is a chance that it is counterfeit software.

Could it have been a spoofed email address?

Amazon are still offering it for sale on the site at £605 which seems odd.

As they're still listing CS5 at that price as "in stock" I wonder what happens if.. ..

The text of that email sounds more like an Amazon trader selling through Amazon rather than Amazon itself.

Got a link to the original webpage selling Photoshop?

hers the original e mail

the top part says to me its genuine its a company thats sells through Amazon and it was £100 cheaper for CS5 than from Amazon direct

I paid via the one click to purchase on the Amazon site

Ah, so it was a reseller. Personally I steer clear of resellers on Amazon. It's just too risky.

I've been caught out before buying software, only to find out they were not legit copies.

I would take onboard about being careful, thing is Amazon is acting as a guarantor, so I would say Les is covered.

Bottom line is if it is a genuine copy you will get big bucks for it on ebay. Then buy yourself a copy of PS.

I would say he is covered too.

It might not be immediatley apparent that it may not be a legit copy. It may not even be apparent at all.

Run a few different up-to-date anti-virus/malware programs etc on the disks before you install, as a minimum, and then again once it is installed, just to try and catch anything that may have been put on the disk.

Once installed and activated with Adobe try an update and make sure you get the updates.

If you know how to check for a clean 'hosts' file on your PC do that before you try to activate the software.

Yep good advise from Graphilly,

Also give adobe a call, they have excellent customer service, (they charge enough) just give them the bar code and I'm sure they will confirm whether it's hooky or not.

By the by, if you are a student, i advise you to purchase the student version of this. You can use it for your business if you start one legally. Well worth the money and peace of mind. Hooky software is ok (ish) for a student, but a business a legit copy is paramount.

The company i used to work for (millions of turnover £1 profit kind of place. Used un-registered software until Microsoft sent them a nice letter, followed by Autodesk etc etc.

I really hope this ends well for you, however, I'm unsure why a company/person would offer you something that costs twice as much by the way of an apology.

I guess it doesnt cost them twice as much though, and goodwill and all that. At the end of the day a number of people on this website have already seen what "potentially" great customer service they are offering.

However, I would echo the sentiment about being careful to check the copy is legit. If so though, what a great deal! If not, I am sure you will be covered through Amazon.

If something on amazon is flagged as "supplied by ......" and it is NOT supplied by amazon I would definitely check out the website of the company to check they are "legit".

The thing that makes me suspicious about "Hydro Digital Ltd" is
1) I have NEVER heard of the supplier
2) They don't appear to have any sort of website so no way to check them out.

i2O Water (formerly Hydro Digital Ltd)
source

i2O Water works in the water industry.

Anyone else smell a rat?

I'd be inclined to contact Amazon customer support/services about this one. I mjust can't seen anyone giving away the Masters package at that price.

A bone fide Adobe approved seller would not have been selling you CS5 at that inflated price in the first place

- but why were you prepared to pay it? it's been discounted by 50% since 13th February and some places were advertising the discount the week before that

There is something fishy about this.. downloading sw? Sounds like someone using a enterprise key to me...

I'd (photo) shop them to adobe

If it sounds far too good to be true then it usually is. Although, occasionally you find the sweet corn in the poo!

29 ratings over 5 months for a legit amazon seller. So maybe 50 - 60 odd sales taking into account people who dont leave feedback.

I would be hesitant over that fact alone. Most traders on amazon have quite a large amount of sales / build their feedback alot quicker than that.

Sounds very dodgy to me.

If legit then would you actually use the other packages (Illustrator, Premier etc etc) that come with the collection. If not then you are just wasting money and could get just Photoshop a lot cheaper.

As far as I can see - they only have the one product for sale in their 'shopfront' too - Adobe Acrobat X, Standard Version (PC) - not the kind of stock range I'd expect - especially when they're offering an unlisted alternative

Thanks for all the imput guys, appreciated

I contacted Amazon yesteday aftenoon - via their complaints section and a very nice chap called me at home - I have cancelled the original order and no payment has been taken from my "1 click account" with Amazon ( seems you can cancel anytime prior to the item being dispatched as no payment is taken until that time)

I explain the theory " If it sounds too good to be true, then it usually is" He cancelled payment as I was speaking to him on the telephone

Now, where the cheapest place to by a DISC with Adobe Photoshop CS 5 guys?

Les

Why do you need a disc? The download and emailed serial version is exactly the same. You can burn your own disc if needed.

It's also arrives sooner as you don't need to wait a couple of days for the postie.

As said, Adobe have a 'sale' on at the moment so that is probably the cheapest at the moment.

Did I not mention already that Adobe have a 50% off deal buying direct from themselves? You can download or get a disk.. ;)

How do you get the 50% off? A couple of colleagues have been looking for that over the past week or so and can't find it. Cheapest I can see it on Adobe's UK site is £657 still.
