Was hoping someone could take alook at this image and tell me whats happening, It wont need explaining all you need to do is zoom in and take alook around the outside edges of the bride and groom
taken with a 135mm f2@ 5.6 160sec with off camera flash

OK - first question, have you got, or can you go and take, a picture with a higher shutter speed, without the OCF? Needs to be something similar, eg a subject with a fair distance between it and the background.

They do look odd, but they look like motion blur [hand shake], possibly being affected by the flash, which is freezing a few limited elements, so before we can say yes or no to that, need to see something to compare with.

Possibly focussing? According to DOFmaster even as far away as 30ft you're only going to get around 18 inches depth of field with a 135 @ f/2 so trying to get it all sharp will be a challenge as people are typically wider than that - and if the focus is slightly off then that would make it more evident.
Might be worth checking the autofocus micro-adjust if you've not already done so.

Thanks all for the replys, Ive always been 100% happy with the lens and although I cant put them up right now I do have images in the field with no flash that don't have the same problem.
These were only taken yesterday so I haven't got through all the images yet but so far the ocf pics seem to be the affected ones but this may change as I work through them all.

Looks like camera-shake, with the sharp flash image making it more obvious. You certainly need to eliminate that possibility before drawing any further conclusions.

I would agree with camera shake. As suggested try a faster shutter to find out. If you are shooting on a crop sensor then 1/160th is slowish at 135mm so needs to be held really steady.

thanks again all
I was restricted with the flash sync speed so I suppose that may explain that its only the shots with flash used.
and yes shot at 5.6
and I thought I had a fairly steady hand..........until now!

Thing is, even when we are normally quite steady handed, towards the end of long day, with the weather being as humid and hot as it has been and inducing more weariness than we are used to, even the steadiest may find they get some shake when they otherwise wouldn't have done. I do think it is camera shake and nothing more to be worried about than that. Probably worth a quick check on the micro adjust for the AF system with that lens, but I don't think that is the main problem here.
