Hi Guys

I've had my Metz 36 AF-4 hotshoe Flash for just under a year. Its a great flash but I feel it's slow during a shoot.

It's not instant like other flashes. There are 3 short burst flashes before fully flashing to take the picture. This shows down a shoot.

I've got a Nikon D5000. I've adjusted the shutter speed on the SLR, replaced the batteries on the flash to no avail.

Please see the video links below:

Please help

Thanks

Those are the preflashes that the camera needs to determine the correct exposure when using TTL

Thanks FITP.

Is there anyway I can reduce the amount of pre-flashes?

I find sometimes the subject blinks by the time of the final flash.

Have you got red eye reduction set? That uses a preflash to close the iris down and causes a delay.

No Problem, glad the problem is fixed.
FYI the AF assist light on the front of the camera is switched on for 1 sec (I think) to close the iris down.
The preflashes are used for TTL as FITP said.
It is best to leave red eye reduction off and fix in PP if needed.
