Is there something wrong with my 50D?

Yes
I have noticed that I have a bit of 'play' on the front of the camera with the lens attached. I have to be fairly heavy handed, but if I hold the lens and camera, I can get a bit of play between the two.

I have tried a couple of lenses and it is the same with both. Should I be concerned or is this OK?

is there play if you just tip the camera back and forth? if not then i wouldnt worry about it, what lenses did you try?

If I just tip it back and forth then nothing moves. If I am in the shot taking position, then I can, with some hefty tugs, get a small amount of movement between the camera and lens.

Tried it with my 100-400 and 100mm macro.

I have slight rotational play on my 40D. I don't think that's a problem.
If you have movement across the longitudinal axis of the lens, then that might need looking at.

I've just checked my 50D and it's tight (as is the 5D) but the 30D has a bit of movement although I've never been aware of anything detremental and the lock is still secure.

Hi Sara

Mine's the same  but TBH I haven't noticed any problems  but then again it's not had that much use.

Sigma actually address this issue on their website faq's. They say it's acceptable to have a small amount of play. Not sure what lenses you're having the issue with but I suspect what goes for sigma also goes for other makes too.

Hope that helps :)
