I'm in a quandry with what to do with my vinyl collection as I don't really want to part with it - but I don't have anything to play it on I still keep debating whether to take it to Canada with me or part with it now :shrug:

It'll be as useless in Canada as it is in the UK if you haven't got a turntable :bonk:

Yeah, I'm well aware of that. It's just the thought of saying goodbye to the large chunks of vinyl that dominated my teenage years. I have most of the LP's on CD now anyway, but there's still nothing like taking a record out of it's sleeve.... and singing along with the lyrics

Don't forget that there are record players that you can connect to your pc now and rip them to your hard drive. It'll set you back about $200 but well worth the price, if only to listen to the crackles again Or pop across the border and grab one for half the price.

I haven't bought a special turntable (although John Lewis do one for about £100 that i think puts vinyl straight to USB / ipod) I am using an old one connected through USB on computer via a 'TERRATEC' phono pre amp studio thing. then using audio cleaning software to remove crackles, hissing, noise etc and then graphic equaliser software to improve it again!

Would be a lot easier to just go and buy the CD i'm sure, but I don't think the rubbish i've got is for sale any more
