is there any truth in the rumor that the government are going to abolish the bedroom tax for council houses and also council tax for private home owners ,as long as you turn your spare bedroom over to a family of middle eastern refugees .i do believe that IDS is thinking of making this government policy ,all rents will be paid to the householder at normal income tax by the benefits each family can claim .

the current estimate is that for each 12 foot x 12 foot bedroom you have can accommodate a a family of 4 adults and six children at a rent of £250 per week payable to yourself .:runaway::runaway::runaway:




note : this is a copy of a draft letter being prepared for sending out at xmas when we are all inebriated :exit:

Haven't heard the rumor until now, but hey every little bit helps. There is a real issue and a stimulant could be useful.
 
Something similar was put about in the 70's. re Ugandan refugees. There were even mocked up `official` Govt letters circulating. Quite funny some of the responses at the time.

Yes it is 100% true, only in Helensburgh though :p
 
I would have Middle Eastern refugees in my spare room. The food is ace and they seem like good people.
 
Um, the rent a room scheme works almost like that. You can rent out a room and not pay tax on the income from it. I mean, legally.

According to the radio earlier, people are actually doing that / being encouraged to do that, to relive some of the "pressure"
I can't remember where you apply, but it must be easy enough enough to find, with a quick Google. Very public spirited of you :thumbs:

I might just do that. The only thing that lives in our spare room is Barry the b*****d spider. He won't mind sharing he's all that space and nothing to do in it.

Bloody hell! I haven't 'surfed the web' since 1996! I have my mobile internet device for my toilet visits in work
