As I am advancing more and more in this world of photography are there any essentials taht I need in my camera bag?

I am not talking lens' I am talikng little accesiores that will make things easier or aid me to acheive certian results.

Thanks
Matt

A camera. (sorry Matt, couldnt resist it!) :D

Remote release. Bean bag. Lens cloth.

My pick would be a clean microfibre cloth in a dustproof bag, for drying camera and lens after accidental (or deliberate) exposure to rain, coffee, beer etc.

My cameras have been soaked with beer, coffee, and tea, not, I must hasten to add, by me!!

sorry

"Are there" is correct.... for asking if there are any essentialS. (plural)

IF he had been asking for ONE essential then "is there" would have been correct.

And GRAMMAR is spelt with an A!!!!!

apart from the obvious batteris and cards...

Lens Cloths

Towel (i use a beer towel.. small and good for wiping camera if rained),

ID, rightly or wrongly you could be stopped by police.. id helps you walk away on the spot

Pencil (+sharpner) and paper... NOT pen in case ink flows...yuk ... If you happen upon something important you may want to get some details...

I also always carry hat, fingerless gloves and rain cover pants.. but that prob depends on where/what your doing..

Ah yes if forgot.... I put a folded black bin liner inside a tesco bag... so if i need to kneel lay on the black bag ii can put it back in something clean to go back in the camera bag.

RIght OK, I will be searching the house later on then!!

1 must have in my bag is a spare lens cap.

i've lost loads of lens caps in the past whilst not having a spare , since i started carrying a spare not lost one..

(following probably only suitable for landscape stuff whilst hill walking etc)

+ midge repellent (essential when shooting near water in certain places - most of scotland actually!)

+ Compass & OS Map

+ Phone with spare battery if possible (a phone with satnav capabilities is quite useful - finds exact location if you ever get into difficulties)

+ Emergency whistle, hat and gloves, I also carry one of those emergency foil blankets and a cheap poncho

+ An all weather (AW) covering for your bag if it doesn't have one
