I just don't seem to be able to password protect a folder on Yosemite- is there an easy way or an app that I could use?

I just encrypt my whole drive, find it much easier that way. Alternatively you can create an expandable encrypted disk image with disk utility and use that to store your files in. You effectively mount it like an external hard drive.

I think the only way to do it is to create a new disk image from the folder you wish to protect and protect that

Hmm thought this might be the only way -but then I suppose if in encrypt the drive its job done
