Google Open Office. That should sort you out.

Open Office is now Libre Office. Same product essentially, and a more than adequate alternative to Word (and other Office applications)

Open Office is still Open Office - www.openoffice.org

It's been my choice of office suite for years, still excellent and now developed by Apache.

Thanks will check out open office now.

I use something called Abiword on my little netbook at home....it was a free download and works a treat for me.

Ive always used Open Office but unless you are using/need all the advanced features (who does ?) then that kingsoft suite looks interesting and a 39mb footprint as well . I might just have a look myself.

www.jarte.com

1. A free word processor based on the Microsoft WordPad word processing engine built into Windows. 2. A fast starting, easy to use word processor that expands well beyond the WordPad feature set. 3. A small, portable word processor whose documents are fully compatible with Word and WordPad.

I have been using it for about 6 months - trouble free and straightforward.

Another vote for Open Office. Used it since the introduction of Word 2007, which I hate.

I used open office for a few years,

new imac has pages on now......and i'm missing open office now :D

Des the job perfectly. Create an account using your Facebook ID and off you go. We use this on my wife's laptop for my daughter to do her homework on.
