Hi, I am looking at getting into interior photography as another option to my photography but everytime I try and search for a UK based forum on interior or Estate agent photography I get just advertiseing for Rightmove or sites of already established interior photographers. Is there not a UK forum for the likes of Estate agent and interior photography. I no if you type in Real Estate to a search engine you get USA forum/s but where are the British ones????

As it's a commercial venture, the Talk Business subforum would be appropriate and I'm sure there has been at least some discussion of non-wedding photography at some point in the past :D

You'll find generally that there are significantly less places, and indeed where there is discussion (as suggested by Alastair in Talk Business) less input from working professionals, on commercial photography than say weddings or portraits.

There are plenty of books on the subject, and you can look at architects websites for ideas and inspiration - but if you are looking for somewhere to get answers to all of your questions then I don't think you'll find it.

Hi, No I was not looking for answers to all my questions just some extra ideas and just got as I stated in the OP finding that all tutorials written or video seem to come from states side. Many thanks for your reply.

They'll be a clue in that then. Most Real Estate photography in the UK is done by estate agents - plenty of threads on this in the forum. More of a US thing where professional photography is more frequently used.

All of my interiors work is done for resident businesses, property developers or commercial estate agents.

Is there any particular reason that you can't use the US based forums and tutorials? If you're looking for ideas and photographic tips, etc. light works the same way in the UK and the US, and a room is still a room, no matter where in the world it is.

The business side of things will be a bit different, and as Mike says, I think the Americans have a bit more of a market to play with than most in this area.

The technicalities are identical, but the market here isn't really big enough to give specific helpers.

Although, you could take tips to try to expand the market here by proving you can add value.

Hi, Many thanks for the replies.
Found some very good tutorials from a London based photographer Simon Maxwell on youtube.
Thanks again

I have tried to get work for Estate Agents BUT I found without exception they no longer give it out to 'Professional Photographers' -- they save money by doing it themselves now that everyone has a 'Digital Nikon Coolpix' or something the 'Girl in the Office' does it all !
