Is the lens better than my camera?

I am thinking about hiring an 70-200L f2.8 IS lens to go on my 350D just to try it out but wonder if the lens is actually too good for the camera and if it will show up flaws in the camera! Would I be better hiring a midrange zoom in this range?
 
nah, good glass will make your shots out that 350d really nice better than you would think, the glass makes all the diffrence! normally its the body outperforming the lens, not the otherway around, like with the 5d mark ii shows bad lenses worse then a camera with less megapixels
 
I thought this may be the case but just wanted to make sure - only problem, once I have hired I might want to buy it and the wife would never have that! Cheers.
 
The 350 was/is a very capable camera. I had mine for years, keeping it as a 2nd body until recently.

What I would say about that combination, is that it`s going to feel unbalanced. The 350 being a fairly light, compact body and the 70-200 2.8 being a weighty beast.

I used the F4 IS version quite happily on mine.

It'll be fine - as said, worst that will happen is it'll make you unhappy with the glass you've got. I occasionally borrow the odd L lens from a mate, and definitely get the sulks when I've given it back. Also, seconded get it on the EOS-5 and shoot some stuff - the old EOS film cameras LURVE L glass :)

O yes I concur with that:thumbs: But I borrowed a 70 200 F2.8vr to use on my NIKON F5 and it was a delight - I sold the F5 and bought a D300 and then bought the 70 200......its been an expensive year -

O last year was expensive - this year is another year:naughty:
 
I've used the 70-200 F2.8L non-IS on my 400D, and it was lovely :D The quality of the images (compared to the 75-300mm I own) is fantastic. It does make it very 'front heavy' though lol. I've got a grip on my 400D, which did help a little bit.

As stated, the lens is the most important part, and a consumer body isn't going to stop you getting some stunning images. The lens makes the camera, not the other way round :)
