I said it last week at the scottish meet....the birdie was on my hand :D

Haha, I think it must be dead. Haven't heard that expression in years.

No-one even says "Say cheese" anymore.:D

It wasn't invisible, they used to have a puppet on a finger or spring or something  to keep the little scuffers eyes frontwards for the shot.
I remember it from my teenie years, sat on a box surrounded by black velvet for a portrait.:gag:
Wouldn't work on anything older than two now, too busy getting physiological disorders and Xbox withdrawal syndrome...

I Believe "birdy" (AKA Robin) is still on holiday thats why he's quiet :D

More seriously, last time I was near a pro 'tog he got everyone to yell
"Knickers" seemed to go down well, especially with the kids :)

Personally never heard the birdy expression... maybe I'm too young haha.

I almost told the kids this, just before taking there picture but then thought, best not as they would start running around the garden and searching the sky's for the birdy:bonk: and then the tears would flow because they cant find it......

So in stead i said who wants some chocolate:thinking:................:woot: that did the trick.

If I want to get a piccie of my two boys with nice smiles (or grins) on their faces, I usually say something in a really silly voice which will appeal to their "toilet" sense of humour....

Like "willy" or "plip plops"....

Mathew is 42 next week and Nick is 38 in December............

:D (They're 12 year old twins really)

With groups try telling 'em to shout 'Sex!" Never fails - grins from ear to ear. :D

Haven't heard the birdie one for years. When my little ones are "picturing" me as they call it with their imaginery cameras they ask me to say cheese :)

Whilst waiting to go into a friends wedding at the weekend a lady photographer who was wearing very tight trousers gathered me and some male friends together for a group shot. Before she had chance to say cheese or similar a mate shouted "say camel toe", smiles were abundant that's for sure :lol:

it is strange how times change...:D

i might try the birdie next time i do a shoot just for the hell of it...

if it dont work i'll go back to my secret weapon :naughty:

with under fives, "Smarteenies" (name of a kids art show) works.

A good long EEEEEEEEEEEEEE sound gives a good smile.

I find Wedding groups respond well to something like...

Okay look at me (one shot taken)

Sorry was that confusing (one shot taken)

Yes - ME please (one shot taken)

You could smile too (one shot taken)

Or not it's up to you (one shot taken)

Okay - all look miserable then (one shot taken)

Cheers (last shot taken)

I have tried other forms of words and while 'rude' words do make some laugh, the older and/or religious types don't take well to it sometimes; and if you uspet them once, you've 'lost' them for the whole shoot

IMO = tread carefully
