Yes
As the title says really...

It's just these last few days, there have been things happening that I normally associate with the spring time. A Dawn chorus, small buds on trees, and just generally more wildlife about?

Has anyone else noticed it or am I just going completely :cuckoo: and wanting the spring to just hurry up and get here?

I think it might well be Toby, the clocks do change shortly and the hours of daylight are slowly altered that is enough to get the dawn chorus going  I mentioned in one of my threads the other day that the Blue tits have been checking out a couple of nest box`s. My Robin looks like he has found a mate as well, they certainly know something we dont. I am not saying they will start mating yet although some might well do over the next few weeks

Yes it is on it's way. Be here in two months time.

Blue tits always check out boxes in Jan. They'll go away and have a think about what house they prefer then come back at nesting time.

So it is just wishful thinking? Lol.

Well, our snowdrops are coming out (and some people's are out already), we have a lot of camellia and rhododendron buds, and the birds do seem pretty noisy. There again, we had a moderate frost last night which has lingered all day on the grass, so perhaps it is all a bit premature. (And my wife just reminded me that in the terrible winter of 1947 the snow didn't start until the end of January.)

So will shag pile carpet and Laura Ashley wallpaper in the box`s make it hard for them to refuse Dougie? ;)

Yup, it's very noticeably getting dark later. Our local Robins have been singing their little lungs out. Green things are sprouting in the flower beds.

If it's not ******ing down again this weekend then we'll be putting the nestboxes up.

They like to do their own decorating. I groom my dog and leave the cast hair lying about and they take that in to the box. Short strands of wool go down well too............

Saw yesterday evening some blue tits checking out a box.

There just seems to be so much wildlife about too.

I think a bi of it is just the "bounce back" after the early snowfalls which have cleared, and the soil warming up a bit. Next cold snap that comes along (hopefully soon - need it for my February POTY entry!) and all the early plants will see the error of their ways

All my crocus' are coming through, together with the daffodils and alliums. Even seen the blackbirds start to collect nesting material from the garden (moss etc from last year's hanging baskets).

We have buds on our apple tree and have seen snowdrops out. Also, as others have said the robins are getting feisty!

Yep, its coming! Snowdrops and Daffs already poking threw in my garden! I put it down to the plants been confused due to global warming :p

On the recreation ground at the end of my road there is a patch daffodils and crocuses, the daffs are already in bloom, I took some photo's of them this morning.

In the local park Cherry blossom is already appearing as well.

John:)

Today is the first day that buds are unfolding here in the East Mids and the odd bulb is shooting through the ground. It is proper freezing though!

Fingers crossed for some BRIGHT frosty mornings rather than the leaden skies of the past few weekends then.

Just spotted a pair of Blue Tits checking out the nestboxes in the garden.

I love the spring time as i like doing macro's of the snowdrops, crocus and grape hyacinth etc.
Where i am the snowdrops in my garden at least are only just poking their heads through the soil but 20 miles away they are in full bloom.

Spring arrived at my place last Thursday and went away again on Friday.

Noticed yeasterday that the crocus are just starting to pop up shouldn't be to long before they are in bloom.

I remember hearing that spring advances in the UK - from the south to the north, at a speed of a third of a mile an hour.

I would say that at this time of the year the weather seesaws, more frosts to come most definately, there will be very warm days and BANG, some cold ones including a heavy frost, this has happened a lot over the last ten years until we reach April/May. mark my words !!

I actually started with hay fever (or to be specific, tree pollen allergy) in the last week of January - catkins. It's been getting earlier each year.

Normally I don't hear Chaffinches until May, ours have started already. And I've got a Robin which is singing all night long, every night. Our daffs and crocuses are out.

Definitely a difference here too in NE Wales, snowdrops out already! It's noticably warmer now than this time last year, whether or not it'll remain like this is another thing! It's set to get warmer at the end of the week here too, 12c with sunshine on Thursday. We may start getting some daffodils soon if it carries on like this. :)

I'm not convinced up here yet...........
