The way I see it a bacon sandwich is not just for breakfast

And Lamb / beef is not just for a roast / BBQ type meal either

you guys have all got the wrong end of the stick though. You can't help thinking of purely the roast meat.

Nope, plenty (including me) have pointed out all the other ways of eating these meats. In fact, the only stand out one for pork is bacon. All the rest can pretty much be done with other meats.

How many people here wouldn't put bacon and ham as two of the best sandwich fillings you can get. Lamb or beef don't make great sandwiches for example.

rare roast beef is the ultimate sandwich for me.

which of these animals produce meat that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

I'm quite partial to beef sausages myself

Pork is the superior meat overal whilst I would agree it doesn't make the best roast dinner - beef or lamb for me there

Beef is the ultimate roast but pork, when not cooked to death, is very tasy and the only meat you get crackling with.

Bresaola works for breakfast if you are are having a continental brekki

Fair point, well presented

Does that mean, like a European election, we have to vote again until we get the answer right?

;)
:D
:bonk:
Not at all, you just pay me enough and I'll rig it, so it shows the result
YOU want ;)

:D

I've heard snake roasts well - you take the spine out then stick a skewer through it and roast it over a fire like a kebab. Anyone know where we can find one to try :naughty:

On my trip to the USA,
I found Moose was OK, a bit chewy, and a bit hard to swallow.
But the head looks good above the fireplace

:p

Fair play - you've got me to a T - tough, and hard to keep down , with a right handsome head on display :naughty:

That's the beauty of bacon! It's for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Lamb may not be for just roast etc. but breakfast? Lamb? Surely not?

Do you prefer beef sausages to pork ones?

I was a gamekeeper years ago ,during the stalking season I always kept a haunch hanging in the larder ,in my opinion venison off the hook can't be beaten . Yum yum I can almost hear it sizzling on the pan . No processing what's so ever ,wouldn't have it an other way .....

My mother used to make venison pies, burgers, sausages and they were to die for ....

Chicken makes the best curry. I can't imagine pork tikka massala.

Best sausages I've had were Wild boar with onion. Didn't think I'd like them but they were fantastic. That's pork ish...

As I work some pretty erratic hours, I guess that a lamb and pickle sandwich
at around 6-7am would be classed as breakfast after driving for 3 hours ;)

Sarah, Sarah, Sarah!
Now look what you have done.
It took us long enough to get him to drop that topic :D

I never dropped it. I just merely allowed it to simmer until the next discussion where it could rear it's beautiful head again!!!!

TOAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turkey, Chicken, Salmon and Tuna. You can keep your saturated fat.

Simmering toast doesn't help! :p

I can, I made one last week. Not deliberately, but because the freezer bag of cubed meat that I defrosted (I buy in bulk, chop up, split into portions and freeze until needed) wasn't chicken at all, as I discovered when I added it to the saucepan ... and so that evening I ate a pork curry.

Would have been much better with chicken

Joe, you have forgotten (or may did not even know) but the best two pork dishes are pig cheeks and trotters......pork is versatile but not the best.

That goes to horse, without doubt the most underrated food stuff on our planet.

Pigs trotters and brawn Yummy

I've actually not tried cheval,
but its certainly on my "to do" list :)

Totally agree with the variety of cuts you get from a porker, although aside from bacon I find the rest of the cuts pretty bland compared to others. Also, it totally depends on how its cooked and who cooks it (sorry mum!)

My top 5:

1: Roast lamb
2: Boerewors (predominantly beef but can also contain pork and lamb)
3: Steak (preferably rib-eye)
4: Smoked Bacon
5: Grilled Chicken

For me

Beef
Venison
Squirrel
Chicken
Duck

Beef has to as rare as you like, if it's a streak, cooked blue at the most, roast beef very rare. Brisket cooked long and slow.
Venison, don't like it hung, but live it otherwise.
Squirrel, either a burgers or sweet and sour.
Chicken, anyhow, doesn't really matter.
duck, roasted, yes please.

We cooked a nice Ox-tail the other night.

That said - as a traditional roast - it has to be Lamb.
