Looking to buy a Canon f2.8 this week.

I mainly shoot portraits with primes but I'll be shooting a few weddings in the not too distant future.

Which of the 2.8's do people prefer for weddings having used both ?

I've asked a couple of pro's I know with differing opinions.

Probably been asked before but I'm on my phone and a bit of a hassle to search.

Cheers.

Anyone with a contribution worth sharing

Assuming you mean 70-200, then the IS Mk2 every time.

Yes it is useful, but not the be all and end all.

Remember it only stops vibration, so if you are using it to capture that low light image at a slow shutter speed, it won't help with motion blur.

Definitely go for the mark II if your budget stretches that far, best of the bunch. The IS is very good indeed, enabling me to get many sharp images at speeds as low as 1/50th and 1/30th of a second handheld at the 200mm end.
