Help please

Could be many things causing the issue. From many years of fixing arcade monitors the normal cause of similar issues is failure in the auto degausse or outside magnetic interference. Might be worth getting someone local to check it over.

Unfortunately degaussing won't help with an LCD type monitor. Often there is a 'reset all' in the settings for the monitor. If you can find it, try that first. Do you have any monitor profiling software running? Presumably you have checked that all the connections are good?

Failing that then it will be either your graphics card (unlikely if you are using the same output on the hp screen) or the monitor itself has gone faulty. There are many places that offer a fixed price repair for monitors - it may be worth checking their costs against the price of a replacement if you go that route.

With the monitor connected, right click on the background and select Screen Resolution (assuming Win 7). What does it say? Also, click on advanced settings->Monitor, what is the refresh rate and colour depth? (if you are in a multi-monitor environment, you will need to have the correct monitor selected to see this)

Could be a loose connection. Double-check all the connections and cables would be my advice before looking at replacing the card/monitor...
