Is LR4 stable / major bug free now?

I'm currently running LR 3.6 but thinking of maybe upgrading to LR 4.x (whatever latest version is) however recall that some of the early versions had significant performance issues. Have these now been resolved with the latest version?

Also, not sure if my desktop is powerful enough to run LR4 smoothly. At the moment I'm running Win 7 64Bit on a Quad core Q6600 2.4Ghz processor with 4GB of RAM and a 1GB ATI Radeon HD4800 graphics card (I think). I know this is probably borderline, but LR 3.6 runs pretty well even when editing full res RAW images from my 5D Mk II or 7D. I've been thinking about upgrading to an i5 or i7 processor and 16GB of RAM (maybe more) but as I seem to be using my desktop less and less of recent, not sure if I really want to upgrade.

I upgraded to 4.0 at release and never noticed any performance issues (although that was the Mac version)... I suppose you could just do the free trial, before you buy, side by side with your current version to compare performance between the two?
 
Never had any performance issues with mine, again running on a Mac (Macbook).
 
LR 4 has a much more complex processing engine. Has more tools and uses a certain amount of adaptive algorithms, in it's processes. I have noticed a very slight response delay with some functions, but it is very small, and probably for most people hardly noticeable if at all.

The improvements over LR3 make any slight slow down, if any ,more than a worthwhile trade off.

Try the trial version and see what you think.
 
Mine runs fine (win 7) but thats on a pretty high spec computer, but I'm seeing people with really good stuff struggling, so maybe I'm one of the lucky ones. Theres some factor thats affecting performance for some people.

Have just installed a trial of 4.2 and so far so good. Looks like its a little more RAM hungry but will see if things slow down once I start to use the Develop module more extensively
