Is liveview worth it?

I've just called Amazon who I got my A200 from, and the chap said even though I've opened the box and played with the camera for a week I can return it if I wish to do so if I'm not happy with it...(I am happy with it but read on).
The main thing if I was to 'trade up' so to speak to an A300/A350 is live view (since I doubt I'll ever use 14mpx - hence A300 being first choice).
So is live view worth it? or more exactly, what situations does live view become useful?

Also on another note, if I return the A200 that'll give me £250, plus approx £100 from items finishing on ebay, and if I flogged the minolta glass I've got thats another £100 (35-105mm + 50mm 1.7), giving me roughly £450..just enough for a Canon 450D + a 50mm when the cashback comes through...thoughts?
 
Timmy, I use the liveview on my 450d, but only really in a very specialised way... With the camera attached to my telescope. And occasionally if the camera needs to be real low or real high and I can't bend that far. Otherwise, I use the viewfinder. I hope that's of some help. I'm sure there are others with different view.
 
i have the A350,and i've found the liveview handy for macro work,which is all i've used it for as yet.the good thing about the sony liveview is that it has fast AF,which the other brands of camera do not(this is not a pop at other brands BTW),so you're less likely to miss that shot of a lifetime.
 
Handy enough for low down or high up (like in crowds, camera over head) but I don't reckon its worth ditching your A200 for.

I think what I'll do is if I get £100 for my stuff, I'll keep the A200 and get a tripod.
If I get £150, I'll get a tripod and the A300 which is body only for £300 at jessops

edit: actually naa can't be bothered - I really don't see myself using liveview tbh and that is the only difference between the two.
I'll get the redsnapper tripod with the ball head (or the manfrotto depending on how much I get), a remote control and a skylight/polorising filter. (or a beercan perhaps)

well since I bought the missus some limited edition pink GHD's (hair straightners for the uninitiated) last night, she's promised me a lens when she gets a job (fingers crossed soon). So that'll be the beercan.
So yea probably a tripod and a shutter cable and a filter if I've got any cash left!
