Is Lightroom really that bad for X - Trans?

Hi all,

I've always used Lightroom for my PP mainly due to the library management side of things and habit I guess. In the last year I've changed my system and now use Fuji. I've seen many articles online about how bad LR is compared to Photo Ninja, Iridient Developer, Silkypix and Capture One. I really do not want to move everything over if the differences are negligible but if they really are as evident as people claim then maybe I should consider the move. For my not so trained eye the raw files on LR 5.7 look ok.

Thoughts and experiences?
 
I guess it's what your used to. Capture one is good, but I find Lightroom and occasionally Photoshop work for me as I'm experienced in them. Only issue with Lightroom is it's slowed down a little lately, especially import.
Never had any issues with getting the image.

If they look Ok then they are Ok.

Other developers can improve things slightly but only if you know what you are doing with them. Read the link above that Mr Perceptive posted and make sure you are getting the best from what you already have. You can also download trials of other software and compare results.

I'm still happy with Lightroom for Fuji files.
 
The "problem" with LR and Fuji files is well documented all over the internet.
There is a problem with how Adobe processes the X-Trans files when there is green foliage involved. It appears to give a smudged oil painting look to foliage.
This was true in the early days of the new Fujis, but to be honest, it has never really been a problem for me.
Might be different if I was doing a lot of landscapes which included greenery.
I think it has been largely sorted by Adobe now, as far as I know.
There may be others who disagree though!.
BTW, I use LR/PS CC, with no problems.
 
I use Capture One Pro and Lightroom. In terms of image quality, there's no way you can tell them apart really. It's all marketing hype. C1 is better for tethered shooting, which is the only reason I use it. When I don't need that, I use Lightroom, simply because it just feels right as a front end. C1's user interface is horribly complex compared to LR.

Use what feels right.
 
for the best quality I find Capture One 9 beats a lot, 8 was about on par.

Lightroom is great for large number of files.

For personal stuff I use C1 Pro, for weddings Lightroom, for my PP business I use Lightroom, unless the client takes my premium option and then the RAWs are processed in C1 Pro and outputted as TIFFs

I shoot Fuji. I love Fuji, I did from the S5 pro, now the X range is superb.
 
LR has improved dramatically in its handling of X-Trans sensors files. The problems that are so well documented with Fuji files no longer exist

I have some presets that work well, pm me your email and I will send you them.

I have now moved to LR because of subscription makes sense as I need PS. Its handling is much better
 
One thing I do find is that Fuji files (16mp ones from the X-T10/X-T1 etc) are pretty darn slow to load/process in LR. I have a new fairly high spec Macbook Pro that's quick enough for anything else that I've thrown at it, my D750 files are night and day quicker than loading an equivalent number of X-T1 files, it's like I'm using a new computer when I switch between the two!

On the processing side, I've never noticed any issues. I've processed several weddings in LR from Fuji gear and created some pretty large prints...no issues.

I've got a beast of a PC and I also notice this - but only when the images are loading off the memory card and then during import - so not a big dealt to me.
