No
as per title

With no actual knowledge of the lenses in question, almost certainly not.

Sony 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 A Zoom Lens

Sony DT 18-250mm F/3.5-6.3

the 18-250mm is certainly better but it would depend upon how much it cost you to change over versus that improvement & it's a purely personal thing, 1 person may view it as worthwhile & another not.
Jessops are doing the 18-250mm for £294 in their sale & then you would have to sell your 18-200mm.

You would be better off getting one that goes to 300mm for the extra reach.

All the reviews show the 18-250mm to be a lot better lens. I had the Tamron version and it certainly was a cracker.

yeah would have to sell the 18-200, and would hope and change if i got say £200 from ebay and the likes. making another £80 to change (with xmas10 discount £10 off)

heard it's a better lens, and as i generally use this a general walkaround and main lens, would like one which is best i can get with my money, for all different shots

more of a downgrade TBH 10x zooms are bad as it is but going to a 13.8x zoom .......

can you explain?
are you saying the 18-250 is no better than what i have (which goes against what i have read about this lens)

i do know zoom lens with a wide range on a budget doesn't give optimum performance, but it's the balance of a general lens i want, performance, quality, build, speed, clarity, zoom all in one.

Doubt you would get £200 for the 18-200, Jessops are selling it for £146.78 and I think the daughter will be getting one this week.

true

for now, i think i may keep the 18-200, but may stick it on the likes of ebay and if it fetches over £200 i don't mind putting the extra for the 18-250.

for now, thinking of the grip instead ;-)
and the tamron 17-50 is it or similar

Ultra zooms are going to give you a good range, but probably only an average quality.

Do you really need the extra 50mm the 18-250 will give you ?

I have now learnt to make do with the lenses I have, although it does mean changing them occasionally. I tend to find the 35-105 stays on the camera about 75% of the time, only using the 100-200 for things like football and then the 70-300 when really needed.

true
but not all stores have them, and don't think they will be getting new in stock either.

plus never know with ebay ;-)
which £200 is still a very competitive price for a main brand 18-200, while alot of places are still selling at around £350

maybe, maybe not, but it's the flexibility of a main lens. also thought it was better than the 18-200.

but probably stick with it for now, and save for the tamron 17-50
