Is it worth spending over £1000 on a bed?

No not yet. went back to look in local store to see if the sale was on. It was. Bed I swore was just over £1000 before the sale was now marked as £1099 down from £1599. Dont think so. Its got one of those storage bases where the whole of the upper bit including mattress sort of lifts up at an angle from the headboard end so you can store stuff. Very handy for my poky little bedroom for storage of duvets etc. Just need to find one similar but maybe a tad cheaper.

We've got one of those bases in all our bedrooms for storage, our main bed one is the one we bought when we got married as it's just framework covered, so about 30 years old so get a good one and they last. The matress we've changed many times.

Don't put really heavy stuff in it. My daughter filled hers with books and didn't notice the bottom had fallen out until she went to move it :D
 
I went back to the bed shop for a proper look. the mattress I fancied had a demo there with medium support one side and firm the other. Tried both sides and I have no idea which one I preferrred so I still havent sorted it. :banghead:
How do you decide? Bladdy minefield.:dummy:
 
The demo one? Then you can take your pick as to which side you sleep on and if you get lucky, the opposition will have to lump it!!!
 
I bought a premier inn mattress.
Very comfortable. But expensive.
However being a Whitbread employee I got a significant discount on it.
 
You should spend big on your boots and your bed - cuz if you aint in your boots you are in your bed.

I was told this years ago and it is bang on :)

Mine's 15 years old at least and could possibly do with changing although I seem to kip ok in it. A random spring will occasionally "ping" which never used to.

How do you choose a bed and what would you spend? Was pondering these Simba jobs but they come all rolled up in a box, surely a decent mattress wouldnt be able to be rolled up tight like that.
If I could get a king size divan for £600-£700 maybe.

Memory foam makes me overheat. Spent a fortune on our SK mattress but it's worth paying the extra, grab an interest free deal as there's plenty about and better the money in your bank than theirs.
 
We bought an expensive mattress and bed when we moved house last year. At the time we weren't sure if we could justify it, but figured that we spend 8 hours a night in it, so it's worth it. Totally love it, and going to bed is now my favourite part of the day :D

People spend £1k on a camera, £10k's on cars, or £1k on a TV, but none of them get used nearly as much as a mattress.
 
Ordered a silentnight miracoil diamond elisa 1400 springs with a half ottoman base. Just shy of £1000. Hope to christ I get on with it when it arrives.
 
5 year guarantee is always a good sign. I was amazed at how many manufacturers only came with a one year guarantee, if they had no faith in their product why should I? lol
